Job Description
- Directs the preparation of all financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, shareholder reports, tax returns, and governmental agency reports.
- Compares actual outcomes to forecasts and budgets. Makes or oversees any necessary adjustments.
- Works with Department heads and stakeholders to develop annual departmental budgets.
- Ensure all financial operations comply with federal and state laws.
- Oversees annual audit and 990 filing,
- Works with the Executive Director, the Board of Directors, and other executives to coordinate planning and establish priorities for the planning process.
- Oversees investment of funds and works with investment bankers to raise additional capital required for expansion.
- Forecast return on investment for current and future programs.
- Track KPIs and analyze trends.
- Manage payroll process
- Manage financial requirements for grants
- Develop and manage the financial requirements for capital campaign in conjunction with fundraising and construction management
- Oversees accounting functions, budget preparation, and audit functions.
- Proven work experience as a CFO, preferably in a nonprofit organization
- Excellent knowledge of data analysis, risk management and forecasting methods
- Hands-on experience with accounting and financial management software (e.g. NetSuite)
- Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance
- MBA strongly desired
