Position Title: Chief Financial Officer
Supervised by: Chief Executive Officer
Supervision of: Senior Fiscal Officer and Fiscal Assistant
Position Summary: Supervises and performs all areas of accounting for the agency.
License Requirements: Valid NM Class D Drivers license required. Must be insurable.
Education/Experience: Associate’s Degree in Accounting or Finance and/or a minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible fiscal managerial experience in non-profit or public agencies; or Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in Accounting or Finance with a minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible fiscal managerial experience in non-profit or public agencies. Experience may be used to replace education requirements.
Skills/Abilities: Must be experienced in multi-fund accounting, reporting, budgeting, strong computer, organizational and interpersonal skills; excellent judgment and ability to work with diverse funding sources. Perform under pressure and deadlines while multitasking.
Job Description: Fiscal and managerial control of all agency funding sources; establishes, maintains, and monitors all new and existing accounts, transfers and transactions; budget projections and preparations; creates program and proposal budgets; keeps Directors appraised of budgetary spending, allocations and encumbrances; maintains daily cash balances and cash flow projections; ensures accounting procedures are in accordance with CAA accounting policies and procedures, federal and state requirements, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP); computer knowledge of MIP or a similar accounting system; computer literacy in databases and spreadsheets required; monitors, reconciles, posts and maintains agency operating accounts, grant and contract accounts, revenues and inventory accounts; prepares correspondence pertaining to accounts and billings; prepares monthly, quarterly and yearly reports; receipts accounts receivable, prepares bank deposits. Oversees duties related to Human Resources such as employee insurances; performs other related job duties as assigned. Position is subject to Drug and Alcohol testing policy if required.
