Long Island Environmental company seeks experienced Estimator for their growing business. Experienced in oil/pump tank remediation services and/or similar construction background
Primary Focus:
Prepares estimates for each division based on specifications and drawings. Performs site visits and attends bid walks to determine site constraints, logistics, etc. when necessary. Procures quotes from subcontractors/suppliers for job-specific costs. Helps maintain existing database of costs for company. Responsible for contacting client regarding bid dates and any follow-up with client requests regarding estimate details. Attend weekly estimating meetings. Coordinate Estimator/PM Download meetings for all awarded bids. Attend Estimator/PM/Crew Chief meetings when directed to review “below target” jobs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to the following:
· Serves as sales contact for customers and clients served by MES.
· Prepares estimates and bid documents for Construction, Maintenance, Compliance services for clients and customers.
· Provides technical information for updating and editing the estimating data bases.
· Performs site visits and attends bid walks and pre-bid conferences.
· Obtains prices from vendors and subcontractors for materials, equipment and services.
· Visits job sites to obtain construction information from crew chiefs and to check on the progress of the work.
· Conduct Estimator to PM download meetings and have PM’s agree and sign off on your estimated net profit.
· Conduct Estimator/PM/Crew Chief meetings as requested for projects that are under performing and provide summary report for review.
· Directs and oversees all operations of the company’s estimating proposal writing function.
· Contacts clients, customers and government representatives to discuss items relevant to the proposed work. Follows up with telephone calls to customers and clients to inquire about estimates that were previously sent.
· Coordinates with Corporate Manager on net profitability that should be applied.
· Develop bid/ non- bid procedure.
· Develop a complete tracking system to enable proper follow up on proposals, win ratios, track by divisions, estimator and by geographic region.
· Increase our bidding efficiency in both percentage of profitability and percentage of jobs won.
· Understands our competition, strengths and weaknesses.
· Provides technical information for updating and editing the estimating database.
· Develops policies and procedures related to the bid process.
· Prepares written correspondence and technical reports as required.
