Chief Estimator

Company Overview:

Our client is a leading engineering and construction firm specializing in public works projects. Located in the heart of the San Fernando Valley, they're currently seeking an experienced Chief Estimator to lead their estimating department and drive continued success in the industry.

Position Overview:

As the Chief Estimator, you will play a key leadership role in the company. You will oversee the estimating department and guide the preparation of accurate and competitive cost estimates for projects in parks & recreation, athletic complexes, etc.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement strategic plans and objectives for project-specific requirements.
• Lead and manage the estimating department, providing support to a team of estimators.
• Create accurate quantity take-offs.
• Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, overhead, and profit margins.
• Oversee the bid management process from opportunity identification to bid submission, ensuring compliance with project requirements and deadlines.
• Collaborate with project management, business development, and executive leadership
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to support business development efforts and enhance bid opportunities.

Qualifications:

• 6+ years of experience in construction estimating, with demonstrated expertise in preparing cost estimates for a variety of public works projects.
• Experience with HCSS Heavy Bid or B2W software strongly preferred.
• Experience with pricing.
• Candidates with experience in mechanical piping, site development, or heavy civil projects are preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
