Summit State Bank is seeking a Chief Credit Officer/EVP. This is a Senior Executive position which requires regular participation in and involvement in working closely with all members of the executive team, the Board of Directors, Committees, regulators, and individuals at all levels within the Bank. This position is responsible for all aspects of credit management, including portfolio origination, collection, regulatory compliance, and credit policy. The incumbent assumes responsibility and is accountable for adherence to bank policies and procedure while managing the direction and administration of all aspects of the Bank's loan functions with the exception of business development.
General:
  • Oversees and ensures overall quality of loan portfolio, approves large and complex loans and recovers assets.
  • Recommends the Allowance for Credit Losses based on quarterly inputs to the CECL model.
  • Prepares credit presentations as required.
  • Approves credit commitment under own authority.
  • Is a contributing member of the Asset/Liability committee.
  • Supervises the analysis and evaluation of potential lending markets.
  • Directs the implementation of programs for individual markets to achieve desired Bank objectives, analyzes credits and recommends approval or decline.
  • Performs daily supervisory duties of department staff.
  • Directs the Bank's lending activities where indicated by Credit Policy.
  • Keeps informed and up-to-date on trends and developments with the financial lending industry.
  • Continuously appraises the Bank's underwriting policies and practices; recommends modifications as required by changing market conditions; monitors regulatory changes and implements policies changes.
  • Improves the overall lending operation efficiency within Bank by introducing new techniques and utilizing past experience and industry contacts.
  • Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with various lending clients, brokers, dealers, builders, corporate and individual business managers, attorneys, and other key individuals and groups.
  • Recommend plans for future loan operations expansion, space requirements, staffing and portfolio liquidity.
  • Anticipates the direction, strength and needs of the commercial, consumer and real estate markets.
  • Manages the activity for sale of Real Estate Owned (REO) transactions on behalf of the Bank and participates in all Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) activities.

The strong candidate will have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent with over 7 years of job-related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. An MBA or CPA is preferred, and management accounting and investment training required. Candidates with previous banking and management experience will be given priority.
