The chemist performs analytical testing on Hazardous Waste streams and maintains laboratory operations and equipment according to established Quality Assurance & Quality Control standards. The ideal candidate will have a degree in chemistry, along with three years work experience in an environmental laboratory or similar environment. Good written & verbal communications skills are required.
Conducts research, analysis, synthesis, and experimentation on substances, for such purposes as product and process development and application, quantitative and qualitative analysis, and improvement of analytical methodologies.
II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.
Devises new equipment, and develops formulas, processes, and methods for solution of technical problems.
Analyzes organic and inorganic compounds to determine chemical and physical properties, utilizing such techniques as chromatography, spectroscopy, and spectrophotometry.
Induces changes in composition of substances by introduction of heat, light, energy, and chemical catalysts.
Conducts research on manufactured products to develop and improve products.
Conducts research into composition, structure, properties, relationships, and reactions of matter.
Confers with scientists and engineers regarding research, and prepares technical papers and reports.
Prepares standards and specifications for processes, facilities, products, and tests.
This job has no supervisory duties.

A. Education and Experience
Education: Bachelor's Degree (accredited) in Chemistry. The responsibility level requires a degree in Chemistry and excludes para-professional Chemists.
Experience: Three years of relevant work experience (in addition to education requirement).

The salary range for this position is $60,000 - $70,000 per year. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate's relevant experience, education, training, certifications, qualifications, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for incentive pay.
