Charge/Payment Entry Specialist

Location : Cerritos, CA- Hybrid

The Charge/Payment Entry Specialistis responsible for gathering, auditing, and entering charge tickets daily.

How you will make an impact:

• Obtains all tickets in a timely manner and audits for accuracy and completeness.
• Inputs charges, procedure codes, and diagnosis codes selected by treating physician into the Nextgen System.
• Tallies charges daily.
• Attends Charge Entry meetings held by the Compliance Analyst.
• Adheres to Carelon Health policies that are applicable to the position.
• Ensures that company policies are understood.
• Receive and review charge documents for accuracy and completeness.
• Enter charges into practice management system.
• Balance Charge Summary to tickets keyed before finalizing/updating charges in the system.
• Maintain and meet daily quota of all encounters processed and completed.
• Balance front office staff deposits and Post patient copays to the members accounts.
• Perform general clerical tasks such as scanning, photocopying, and filing, where applicable including any special projects.

Minimum Requirements:

Requires H.S. diploma or GED and course completion in coding (CPT, ICD-9 coding and HCPCs) or related experience or minimum of 1 year of experience in the medical field; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.

Preferred Skills, Capabilities and Experiences:

• Charge entry experience in the healthcare field strongly preferred.

• Knowledge of CPT-4 and ICD-10 coding preferred.
• knowledge of medical terminology if highly preferred.

For candidates working in person or remotely in the below locations, the salary* range for this specific position is $16.19 to $20.04
