Description of Job
Maintain the funds for those offenders who are incarcerated with the Department of Corrections, on parole, or at community corrections and to monitor the collections and disbursement of all funds pertaining to child support, filing fees, court ordered
restitution, dependent support, and offender release. Provide the function of cashier by depositing and reporting receipts for the Department of Corrections and Correctional lndustries and preparing/issuing offender release checks and/or debit release cards.
Primary duties include but are not limited to:
- Receive and batch all financial transactions for incarcerated offenders, i.e. curio sales, cashiers daily report, money orders (incoming and outgoing), payrolls, postage, telephone, Xerox, photos, medical charges, damaged property, hobby, repairs
and any miscellaneous charges; - Reconcile calculated DCIS inmate bank totals to the calculated totals of the Wells Fargo Bank accounts for Department of Corrections' Inmate Fund;
- Obtain, compare, compute, record and track the court ordered fines and fees on criminal cases for offenders/parolees by utilizing CJIS, DCIS/PCDCIS, the current mittimus, amended mittimus, motions, orders, Register of Action and financial
summaries to establish the justification for modification and collection of monies; - Identify and verify overpaid accounts and initiate a refund;
- Classify, audit and record cash entries, and issue checks for miscellaneous disbursements and checks or debit release cards for account balances of of offenders releasing;
- Interpret policies, rules and regulations pertaining to restitution and inmate bank and advises all staff, offenders, offender family members, victims and other state agencies of the information;
- Respond to offender inquiries and grievances;
- Produce reports for electronic distributions, listing all pertinent data and dollar amount to be paid by inmate/parolee and total dollar amount to be paid to court;
- Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Three years of *technical accounting experience. This experience must be clearly described, in your own words, within the work experience section of your application to meet this requirement.
*Technical Accounting is defined as accounting processes that record, classify, verify, and report information related to financial transactions.
Substitutions:
College or university course work in finance, accounting or other business related fields may substitute for the experience on a year for year basis. (A copy of your unofficial college transcript with your name, institution name, degree and date conferred must be attached to your application to verify your education.)

- Relevant years of state service.

- Successfully pass all modules of the Colorado Department of Corrections Basic Training, to include English reading comprehension, relevant competency assessments and written/practical exams in Defensive Tactics;
- Possess the physical ability to successfully complete Defensive Tactics;
