Job description

Position Summary: The purpose of this position is to develop and direct the Community Philanthropy program, to provide technical assistance and liaison support to all Partner Fund advisors and advisory groups, and to support the work of the Community Philanthropy and Development teams to promote generosity across the region. Encourage staff engagement and best practices by endorsing organizational initiatives such as wellbeing, diversity, equity and inclusion and promoting the staff alliance. A strong commitment to the vision, mission and values of the Foundation is essential as we work together to serve the communities of central Minnesota.
Responsibilities:
1. Program Oversight - External (35%): Serves as lead staff and provides technical assistance to assigned Partner Funds, including individual donor-advisors and advisory teams. Creates and conducts orientation for new advisory teams and newly elected advisory team members. Provides capacity-building training and support for local advisory teams as needed and ensures compliance with annually required forms. Promotes the program and works with Communications Team to maintain collateral media including fundraising and marketing platforms. Ensures a high level of service provided to donors, advisors, advisory team members, and representatives of Agency and other funds, as well as community partners.
2. Program Oversight - Internal (30%): Provides supervision and work direction to the Program Specialist, Nonprofit Development Officer and TRCF AA. Coordinates internal systems and procedures for the Community Philanthropy program. Partners with staff to develop and maintain scheduling of financial reports and monitoring the effectiveness of the reporting tools, maintains and distributes Partner Fund guide and supporting resources. Works across teams to ensure growth, overall quality and effectiveness of the program. Approves expenses related to Partner Fund activity, monitors financial/manager reports and helps develop budget projections for the program. Participates in reviewing/updating policies and other documents that directly impact the Community Philanthropy program (Grantmaking Manual, Component Fund Policy, Fundraising Compliance Agreement, etc.). Leads the formation of newly assigned partner funds. Manages legal contracts (including all Partner Fund agreements, vendor and service contracts related to Community Philanthropy program). Consults with finance team and legal advisors to ensure program compliance and to develop complex gifts.
3. Partner Fund Grants & Scholarships (20%): Serves as reviewer and lead staff for component fund grantmaking, annual scholarships, and other special project fund and agency fund pay outs. Works with staff to develop and maintain online applications, close out evaluations, payout requests and procedures. Participates in Grants Team and serves as reviewer for grant inquiries that have a direct connection to the Foundationýs Partner Funds.
4. Fund Prospects (10%): Collaborates with the Development Team to identify opportunities for fund prospects and assists in planning and executing strategies to cultivate and secure new partner funds.
5. Other Duties (5%): Completes other duties as assigned by the supervisor or members of the Leadership Team.
Supervision: Supervisory responsibilities include managing, coaching, mentoring, assessing work performance/providing feedback and, when necessary, dealing with disciplinary issues with direct reports. Supervisors are expected to: help set and document progress toward performance management and development goals; understand and hold employees accountable to the policies and procedures of the organization; ensure their team members are working within their team and with others in the organization in a respectful and effective manner; consult with the CFO and/or Director of Administration if serious personnel issues/opportunities arise; and work collaboratively with HR during employee recruitment and search processes.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Position calls for strong knowledge of community foundations, nonprofit development and local philanthropy. Excellent oral and written communication, critical thinking, problem-solving and conflict- resolution skills are required. Experience working with nonprofit organizations, providing program and training coordination, and grant making needed. Ability to work with a variety of computer programs and applications. Knowledge of legal standards, compliance, and liabilities relating to events is helpful.
Minimum Requirements: Bachelorýs degree in community or nonprofit development, education or related field with three yearsý experience or equivalent combination. Willingness to work a flexible schedule including some evenings, early mornings and weekends is required. Position requires a valid driverýs license and insurance coverage, or access to reliable transportation.
Location: This positionýs home office is in Little Falls, MN, and requires a portion of worktime in the office. As a hybrid workplace employer, this position allows for some Central Minnesota-based remote work.
Pay Range: $70,000 to - %75,000, depending on qualifications, with excellent benefits.
Status: Full-time, Exempt
