Job Summary
Filling every occasion with great food and service! We are currently seeking a Catering Sales Director for a high-volume and premiere catering department at San Jose State University. Working as the Catering Sales Director you will effectively coordinate and all internal and external catering events. You are directly responsible for menu development as they relate to the catering department. You are responsible for event coordination and sales financials. Events can range from coffee service to VIP dining events both on and off-campus.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Creates proposals, contracts, and banquet event orders
• Negotiates with clients through the use of creative and attractive menu presentations and event proposals, to achieve both maximum revenue/profit potential and fulfillment of contractual responsibilities while satisfying client needs
• Works with venue or client to create floorplans
• Maintains local client database and builds and maintains relationships with vendors
• Handles client billing to ensure accurate and timely payment of deposits and final payments
• Solicits event feedback and compiles opportunities for improvement and event experience
• Facilitates weekly BEO meetings with operations and culinary to ensure everyone is aligned on event expectations

PREFERRED QUALIICATIONS:

• AS degree preferred
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in the hospitality industry with catering and sales experience
• Proven track record for meeting sales goals
• Strong knowledge of current food, industry trends and fine dining points of service
• Ability to assess client requirements and deliver ensuring client satisfaction
• Must be able to write menu proposals in consultation with chefs
• Exceptional client relations and customer service abilities

Salary Range: 70,000-90,000
Starting rate of pay may vary based on factors including, but not limited to: location, education, training, and/or experience.
