WHAT YOU'LL DO
In this role, you'll work alongside the Case Worker in providing services for newly arrived refugees. Core services may include housing placement and setup, airport pickups, home visits, financial management, access to public benefits, medical appointments, school registration and other services. You'll also be involve in providing ongoing cultural and community orientation to clients to provide independent access to community resources. To be effective, you must have not only proficient communication skills but must also have excellent writing skills, computer competence and attention to detail.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
- Minimum of an Associate's degree in a human services related discipline or equivalent
- Experience providing direct services to refugees and immigrants
- Experience linking clients to a broad range of essential, community-based services
- Ability to provide culturally sensitive case management.
- Proficient communication skills for interaction with clients and the public
- Working knowledge of community resources for refugees and immigrants.
- Informed about refugee and immigrant issues, and available services to clients.
- Strong computer skills, especially with Microsoft Outlook and Word.
- Familiarity with and appreciative of issues related to people with diverse cultures and languages.
- Fluency in a refugee language (Dari, Pashto, Somali, Nepali, Burmese, Chin, Karen, Swahili, French, or other) is preferred along with written and verbal communication skills in English.

The wage range for this position is $19 - $20 per hour dependent on experience and language skills. This position offers great benefits including 4+ weeks accrued Paid Time Off (PTO), plus 13+ paid holidays (15 in 2014!), excellent health insurance options (IHA), 401k and much more. We also have a reduced 35 hour work week with an early close on Fridays!
Our office is in Downtown Niagara Falls and services clients in Niagara and Erie county. Since this position requires work in the community, you must have a reliable vehicle, clean driver's license and required liability insurance levels of $100/$300k. Additionally, if selected for this position, you must be able to produced evidence of having received a Covid-19 vaccine.
