Description
The Branches CARES program enhances mental health literacy, increases access to and utilization of preventive and early mental health services in community settings, and provides linkages to mental health services in clinical settings for Branches K-12 participants in historically underrepresented communities at-risk for lower quality healthcare. As the Branches CARES Counselor (Mental Health Therapist/Social Worker) specializing in therapy for students aged 5-19, the Branches CARES Counselor primary responsibility is to provide mental health support and therapy services to Branches Grow and Climb students. The Branches CARES counselor will work with individual students, conduct small group sessions, complete intake assessments, administer basic mental health surveys, and refer students for long-term care when necessary.
Requirements
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Individual Counseling: Conduct one-on-one counseling sessions with students to address a wide range of emotional, behavioral, and mental health concerns.
2. Small Group Sessions: Facilitate small group therapy sessions to address common issues among students, such as peer relationships, bullying, self-esteem, and stress management.
3. Basic Mental Health Surveys: Administer and interpret basic mental health surveys to assess the emotional and psychological well-being of students and identify potential areas of concern.
4. Crisis Intervention: Provide immediate crisis intervention and support for students in urgent situations, collaborating with Branches staff and families as needed.
5. Collaboration and Referrals: Collaborate with Branches staff, school counselors, parents, and other professionals to provide a holistic approach to student support.When appropriate, refer students to long-term mental health care providers or specialists for more intensive treatment.
6. Education and Prevention: Teach mental health wellness to students, parents, and Branches staff.
