General Responsibilities

  • Implements programming under the direction of the Manager, Caregiver Services including the provision of support groups, educational opportunities, outreach, and information/referral for caregivers of older adults and relatives raising non-biological children.
  • Implements special projects under the direction of the Manager, Caregiver Services.
  • Adheres to guidelines set forth in funder’s bylaws and standards.
  • Maintain secure client files and documentation in compliance with agency and funder standards.
  • Attends outreach events to recruit clients and to share information on programming.
  • Participating in Agency, funder, and community meetings and trainings as scheduled.
  • Implement all scheduled community based educational programs targeted for caregivers or relatives raising children.
  • Other duties as assigned within the guidelines of this position.

Essential Functions

  • Complete recruitment activities for Caregiver Services.
  • Assist with the maintenance of a distribution list for contact sites to advertise programming.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed sign in sheets for caregiver programming then submit for data entry in a timely manner.
  • Ensure the completion of all required documentation in a timely manner.
  • Maintain required certifications.
  • Maintain a cooperative working relationship with service providers and community organizations to meet client needs.
  • Create and maintain confidential case records and ensure the privacy and confidentiality of client records.
  • Possess the ability to work independently and as part of a team, bringing concerns or challenges regarding complex issues to the attention of a direct supervisor.
  • Act as an Agency ambassador in communities served and attends community groups or events as required.

Requirements:
  • A Bachelor’s degree is required with preferences in areas of social work.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience working with community resources for older adults, community based programming for older adults, or a similar capacity is required.
  • Experience serving caregivers or relatives raising children and course work in gerontology and psychotherapy are required.
  • Certification as a lay leader or master trainer in evidence-based programming endorsed by Agency preferred at time of hire, but must be completed within six (6) months of employment (or as offered by funding sources).
  • Must possess a strong aptitude for public speaking and be comfortable speaking to large groups of people.
  • Must possess a strong aptitude for educating small groups and keeping participants engaged in the content being presented. Experience in this area is preferred.
  • Must possess strong communication skills on the phone, in person, in large groups, and in written word, this includes strong interpersonal communication and rapport development skills with older adults, family members, and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Must be familiar with local services and supports as well as all Agency services and supports.
  • Ability to establish a relationship with community partners.
  • Willingness to travel county to county presenting educational and recreation activities to clients.
  • Demonstrated ability to respond quickly and appropriately in times of crisis, and to communicate effectively with clients in difficult and stressful situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and constructively with persons from all ethnic, racial, and social backgrounds.
  • Passage of complete background clearance, and any other required testing or clearances.
  • A valid driver’s license, reliable means of transportation and proof of liability insurance is required.
