Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cardiovascular Technologist to join our Catheterization Laboratory (Cath Lab) team. As a Cath Lab Technologist, you will play a crucial role in assisting cardiologists and other medical professionals during a variety of cardiovascular procedures. Your expertise in catheterization and interventional techniques will be pivotal in diagnosing and treating patients with cardiac conditions. The ideal candidate should possess excellent technical skills, a comprehensive understanding of cardiovascular procedures, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and challenging medical environment. Key Responsibilities include:
- Catheterization Procedures: Assist cardiologists during cardiac catheterization procedures, including diagnostic catheterizations, angioplasty, stent placement, and other interventional cardiac procedures.
- Imaging and Monitoring: Operate and monitor specialized cardiovascular imaging equipment, including fluoroscopy and digital angiography systems, to visualize and record real-time images of the heart and blood vessels.
- Patient Care: Prepare patients for cath lab procedures, explain the process, and ensure their comfort and safety during the entire course of the intervention.
- Data Collection and Documentation: Record accurate and detailed patient information, procedural data, and image files in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory guidelines.
- Equipment Maintenance: Ensure proper maintenance and calibration of cath lab equipment to ensure accurate and reliable imaging during procedures.
- Radiation Safety: Adhere to strict radiation safety protocols to minimize exposure to patients, staff, and yourself during cath lab procedures.
- Emergency Response: Be prepared to respond swiftly and effectively in emergency situations, providing life-saving support during critical cardiac events.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with the cath lab team, including cardiologists, nurses, and other technologists, to ensure seamless patient care and optimal outcomes.
- Quality Assurance: Participate in quality control and improvement initiatives to enhance the accuracy and safety of cath lab procedures.
- Training and Development: Stay updated with the latest advancements in cath lab technology, interventional techniques, and best practices through continuous education and training.
Minimum Education
- Associates Degree in Cardiovascular Technology or Interventional Radiology is required at time of hire.
Experience
- Experience in Catheterization Laboratory, Interventional and/or Diagnostic Radiology, Emergency Medicine/Paramedic is preferred.
Required Registration/License/Certification
- Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS), or Vascular Interventional Radiology (VI ARRT) is required at time of hire. New Graduates must complete within one (1) year from date of hire.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) issued from the American Heart Association is required at the time of hire.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) issued from the American Heart Association is required within one (1) year from date of hire.
