This is a Civil Service position with the Nashville Public Library that is responsible for open and closed captioning of pre-recorded (offline) broadcast and non-broadcast programs. Other duties as assigned.

- Creates open and closed captions into pre-recorded media.
- Assists staff with special production projects.
- Synchronizes captions to audio and video within media.
- Provides assistance to staff and clients using audio visual services in library facilities.
- Reviews and edits captions for punctuation, spelling, accuracy, timing and pacing for maximum readability.
- Transcribes verbatim dialogue, sound effects, and other essential non-verbal features while breaking text into individual captions with appropriate screen placement and timing to associated audio.
- Keeps abreast of current developments and trends in all areas related to captioning.
- Works independently and in conjunction with the library media production team.
- Creates and submits statistical and narrative reports on an ongoing basis.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or equivalent and four (4) years of video production, language transcription, or video editing
OR
Two (2) years of college (60 semester hours) from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of video production, language transcription, or video editing
OR
Bachelor's degree

Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Bachelor's degree in Film & Video production, Photo Journalism, Audio-visual Communication or Radio and Television broadcasting
- Premiere Pro Software Experience
- Fluent bilingual language skills
- English language transcription proficiency
