Job Summary (2-3 sentences describing job purpose): Compiles records, sorts, shelves, issues, and receives library materials such as books, electronic media, pictures, cards, slides and microfilm. Locates library materials for loan and replaces material in shelving area, stacks, or files according to identification number and title. Registers stakeholders to permit them to borrow books, periodicals, and other library materials. Keeps library neat and organized to improve the stakeholder’s experience.

Primary Job Duties/Responsibilities: List, in the order of importance or time spent, the essential duties/tasks performed by the position. Job Duty/Resp. 1:
Locates library materials for students, including books, periodicals, A/V materials, and electronic resources. Checks out and processes returned items. Shelves items back to their proper place.
Job Duty/Resp. 2:
Performs clerical activities, such as answering phones, typing, photocopying and mailing out material. Runs routine reports showing usage, users, issues, etc. Provides assistance to librarians in the maintenance of collections of books, periodicals, magazines, newspapers, and A/V and other materials. Answers routine inquiries, and refers students in need of professional assistance to librarians.
Job Duty/Resp. 3:
Processes and enters new materials including books, A/V materials, and periodicals into Integrated Library Systems program.
Job Duty/Resp. 4:
Maintains book and technology inventory within electronic database system. Processes notices of missing, damaged or overdue items.
Job Duty/Resp. 5:
Assists in processing student IDs, passwords, email, and login information for use in library’s electronic resources.
Job Duty/Resp. 6:
Acts as lead to students and volunteers working in library.
Job Duty/Resp. 7:
Operates a variety of media equipment and computer equipment and systems for the purpose for providing library media services to all stakeholders.
Job Duty/Resp. 8:
Distributes, inventories and secures school and library media equipment. Reports any damaged or missing media equipment to librarian.
Education and Experience Requirements
Education (training/degree): Required minimum: High school or GED required.

Experience: Minimum of one years’ applicable experience working with customers in a high volume atmosphere.
