Shift: Part-Time, Evenings
3pm - 11pm Saturday and Sunday
The primary goal of the Call Center Counselor is to provide appropriate services to callers experiencing high acuity crisis and/or mental health needs. These services may include supportive counseling, information and referrals, crisis intervention counseling, suicide prevention, and intake screening of callers to the Mobile Teams and other community services in the caller's area.
Essential Functions:
1.) Have the ability to work in a highly stressful environment that deals with frequent suicidal callers.
2.) Assess each caller’s presenting problem, support systems, coping skills, and level of emergency to determine appropriate intervention.
3.) Intervenes appropriately with callers who present imminent danger to self or others, including assessing lethality and taking necessary steps to intervene.
4.) Completes all shift-to-shift communication forms, for effective transfer of information between shifts.
5.) Access bed registry and other resources to connect callers to services.
6.) Comply with Crisis Standards in providing services to the community.
7.) Adhere to Lifeline Standards, Crisis Now Standards, and appropriate accrediting bodies' best practices when providing services.
8.) Participate in regularly scheduled supervision and debriefing sessions as appropriate.
9.) If self-identified as a peer, participate in regular peer support sessions.
10.) Comply with the organization’s Secondary Trauma Prevention policy.
11.) Adhere to annual training requirements.
12.) Other duties as requested and required.
Technical / Environmental Requirements:
Must have continuous access to high-speed internet connection via Ethernet, REQUIRED
Must be able to maintain a home-work environment free from distraction and which is HIPAA compliant, REQUIRED
Must be available to work required shift 3pm - 11pm Eastern Standard Time Saturday and Sunday.
Educational Requirements:
High school diploma; Bachelor’s degree preferred or Individuals with lived experience.
Experience:
Six Months current or past experience as a 988 Crisis Counselor, REQUIRED
One year of community mental health experience highly desired or lived experienced
Physical Demands:
Some walking, telephonic work, standing, climbing stairs, and sitting are required.
Moderating lifting up to 20 pounds.
