Job Title: CAD/BIM Designer
Department: Engineering
Reports to: Project Engineer Effective Date: 09/7/2023
POSITION OBJECTIVE:
ESG Engineering, Inc, is seeking a CAD/BIM Designer with knowledge and experience with Process Mechanical piping to work alongside staff Engineers, in the design and production of contract documents for various Water, Wastewater and Pump Station facilities projects. Additional knowledge is a plus, including Site Civil drafting/design – site layout, grading, drainage, yard piping.
This position is responsible for operating Computer Aided Design (CAD) drafting software, including creating, updating and modifying 3D and 2D drawings or maps, as well as electronically filing the records for future use. CAD Designer will work with a team of engineers to put engineering designs into a paper form that can be utilized to bid and build construction projects. Projects consist primarily of water, wastewater and/or stormwater infrastructure improvements, with some road and site development work.
ESSENTIAL Duties and Responsibilities:

- Develops both 2D and 3D drawings for water and wastewater treatment design projects.
- Cuts sections from 3D models to develop and detail out the final set of plans.
- Understands Plant3D pipe and fitting libraries and can utilize AWWA standard based components for piping network model development.
- Can perform rendering to
- Copies project drawings and details for modification.
- Stores drawings electronically for later use per company filing protocol. (File names, directories, drawing types, etc.)
- Revises drawings based on instructions from engineers or designers.
- Understands the written or verbal instructions from designers or engineers for drawing preparation or asks for additional clarification as needed.
- Reviews engineering data or modification instructions to ensure compliance with the original design objective. Advises engineer of suspected problems.
- Plots maps and drawings for review and/or bid.
- Maintains the plotter and associated supplies in good working order.
- Advises engineer on estimated time of work completion. Stays aware of and strives to meet project deadlines.
- May occasionally visit building/project site(s) to collect data and/or gain a better understanding of project needs.
- Electronically transfers drawing files to/from engineers, surveyors or clients.
- Assists engineers with creating, updating and maintaining company CAD standards.
- All CAD drawings shall be formatted to company standards.
- Attends training to stay up-to-date with CAD software applications.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- 5-10 years’ experience in CAD drafting with AutoCAD Plant3D, Revit, or similar software
- Strong Computer Skills and Technical Capabilities
- Knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel, Google Earth and Outlook
- Ability to actively communicate with engineers/designers
- Detail oriented
- Ability to work with very little supervision
- Ability to prioritize workload
- Ability to proactively engage designer with questions and concerns about project
- Experience with GIS software is not required, but would be beneficial
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Associate’s degree in drafting OR
- Bachelor’s degree in a Computer or Engineering related field OR
- A minimum of 5-10 years’ experience working as a CAD Operator
- Must have a valid driver’s license in the State employed

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Some travel will be required.

Salary: Up to $135,000 based on experience level.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00 - $135,000.00 per year
