POSITION OVERVIEW
The First Baptist Church of Glenarden is seeking an experienced full-time Buyer who will assist with the procurement of goods, materials, and services to fulfill the operational needs of FBCG, balancing factors such as price, quality, and delivery, while ensuring a consistent supply. This role is to secure equipment and materials at the most economical cost while taking into account factors such as quality, supplier reliability, and urgency. The role also aims to promote best practices in purchasing across the team, organization, and supply base.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Procuring goods, materials, components, or services that meet cost, quality, and delivery requirements.
- Identify providers of goods and services.
- Negotiate with suppliers on matters such as cost, product quality, delivery dates, and expectations.
- Communicate with suppliers and project managers regarding updates and product information.
- Generate purchase orders and match them with supply requests and orders.
- Verify the accuracy of received goods by reviewing invoices.
- Keep track of inventory to maintain a steady flow of goods.
- Participate in meetings with the legal team to secure advantageous contractual agreements for the organization.
- Collaborate closely with the projects team to comprehend procurement needs.
- Facilitate prompt order fulfillment and delivery coordination.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be saved, have a servant's heart, and be a member, in good standing or willing to join and become a member in good standing of FBCG.
- Must be saved, be a Christian example for the staff and support the work and ministry of FBCG.
- Must have a servant's heart, possess a gracious, Christ-like demeanor in demanding situations.
- Must be able to submit to authorities as defined by the Pastor.
- Must possess strong people skills, superior professionalism and a spirit of humility.
- Bachelor's degree in business, purchasing or related field is preferred or equivalent years of experience.
- At least 3 years of progressive experience in a similar buyer role.
- Certifications such as CSCP, CPP, CPSM, PMP, CPPB, or IABA are desirable.
- Purchasing experience, especially in the automotive or manufacturing industries, is required.
- Knowledge and experience with the application of Procurement fundamentals and practices.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Strong writing skills, and experience preparing presentations and comprehensive reports.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office - advanced Excel skills.
- Demonstrated ability to add value, reduce costs, and drive business improvements.
- Experience in contract management and working with suppliers.
- Understanding of automotive processes, components, and supply chain management.
- Compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental Policies.
- Comfortable with personal challenges. Confident and well-rounded in thinking.
