Job Summary
The Business Services Representative (BSR) for Apprenticeships & Work-Based Learning will be a full-time position dedicated to marketing, developing, managing and tracking apprenticeships and other work-based learning activities within Region 5. This position will work to meet regional business needs by serving as the point person for assisting employers with the development of apprenticeship programs. The individual will be responsible for learning all aspects of apprenticeship, particularly the employer training standards and program creation components. Other areas of responsibility include providing labor market information to employers with the assistance of the Business Services team, working with employers to develop new apprenticeship programs as well as assisting those with existing apprenticeship training programs.
Essential Job Duties
Position reports directly to the Regional One Stop Manager, Region 5. Specific duties of the BSR for Apprenticeships & Work-Based Learning include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Serve as the knowledge expert for apprenticeship creation for the
- Outreach to businesses with the goal of increasing the numbers of businesses utilizing Registered Apprenticeship and the number of slots available to job
- Collaborate with the Business Services team to plan and manage effective business outreach activities to inform the employer community of our ability to assist in the development of apprenticeships.
- Research the pathway and steps for an area business to create a registered apprenticeship program and serve as the knowledge expert on these subjects.
- Collaborate with business leaders and training providers to develop a pathway to apprenticeships.
- Create resource materials (printed and/or web-based) to assist
- Collaborate with the Business Services Team and other WorkOne staff on ways they can support apprenticeship development so they may assist businesses as needed.
- Enter required information for apprentices in a state and federal database system during their apprenticeship.
- Plan activities to meet annually established enrollment numbers and expenditure levels.
- Write timely and accurate reports on apprenticeship activities for grant
- Maintain and record progress of apprentices.
- Works closely with WorkOne, Service Provider, Veteran and Business Services staff to assist in placement of youths, veterans and other targeted populations for work-based learning opportunities including Work Experience and On-the-Job training.
Other Duties
- May attend meetings or serve on committees that provide services to mutual customers, as appropriate.
- May attend training and meetings sponsored by the State or other organizations to update skills or information to better serve customers.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Working Conditions
Works most of the time in a well ventilated modern office. Performance of duties will require travel within the 8 county region. Works standard 8:00 - 4:30, although schedule may need to be adjusted occasionally to accommodate varying needs of customers. Infrequent overnight travel may be required.
Education
Bachelor's Degree in a related field. At least one year of related professional work experience required. Demonstrable experience in a responsible position requiring independent judgment. Related work experience may substitute for the four year bachelor's degree.
Communication
Oral and written communication skills should demonstrate the ability to write letters, memos, emails, reports, train staff and speak to groups.
