Reports To: Director Renewable Energy  

Location: Denver, CO or Phoenix, AZ

Position Summary:   

McCarthy is seeking a Business Process Improvement Manager based out of the organization’s Southwest Office in Denver, CO. This role has two focuses:  #1 is focused on creating and improving processes within the Renewable Energy business unit (BU) to enhance the performance of our projects and support business scalability and #2 is the Administrator responsibility for Monday.com.   The individual will be (or become) a leader for McCarthy in not only applying Continuous Improvement (CI) principles to Business Processes but also will help support CI by being responsible to coach and encourage others to leverage CI principles in their work.   

This role requires 20% travel on average.   

Key Responsibilities  

   

Continuous Improvementfor Business Processes  

  • Identify, create, and participate in the implementation of continuous improvement opportunities focused on Business Processes, enabling tools, and systems that deliver tangible value to the Renewable Energy BU.
  • Partner with Business Development, Preconstruction, Design Management, Shared Services, Operations, and O&M to help these departments document their processes while working to identify, prioritize and pursue continuous improvement opportunities. Maintain ownership of a library of Business Process flow diagrams.
  • Create a standard template to be used by the Renewable Energy BU teams listed above so they can document their Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)/work instructions and the library where these documents will be housed.  Create a timeline for completion and regularly check in, audit and offer support to ensure these processes remain relevant and meet the needs of the Renewably Energy BU.   
  • Engage in the CI Workshops to introduce CI Concepts and Principles to the RE Business Unit.
  • Coach individuals and teams on the value of CI and how to implement CI principles to identify and solve business problems.
  • Actively seek opportunities to collaborate with cross-functional teams on Business Process system enhancements.
  • Engage with the CI leads supporting the field (site support) to collaborate on CI activities that impact both business and field processes.
  • Document, aggregate and publish CI Metrics to the entire RE Business Unit.
  • Lead (in collaboration with RE Business Unit partners) the process flow creation and scoping exercises/planning to understand desired end state for new MDC boards/applications.

   

Lead Strategic Projects that Deliver System Level Changes  

  • Responsible to deliver projects to fruition and provide overall team leadership to the project team.
  • Support cross-functional project team to collaborate on the project – pulling in SMEs from all disciplines/teams involved.
  • Lead the discovery/planning phase to understand current state.
  • Establish and gain organizational alignment on the project goals & objectives (expected future state).
  • Leverage the capabilities of technology, collaborating with IT, to understand the best way to deliver the capabilities and/or improvements required.
  • Facilitate team activities and ultimately be responsible to deliver all project activities to the desired state.
  • Communicate project status throughout the RE organization.

   

Teach, Coach and Facilitate General Business Process Improvement Through the Application of Continuous Improvement Principles  

  • Lead CI Workshops to train users on the principles of continuous improvement and how they can use continuous improvement tools to identify and solve business problems.
  • Coach all levels of RE on the value of Continuous Improvement and encourage them to not only apply continuous improvement to their own work but hold their team members and direct reports accountable to use CI.
  • Facilitate individual and team process review sessions to identify, prioritize and pursue Business Process Improvement opportunities.
  • Help the Renewable Energy teams with their planning, educating them on how to tackle Process Improvement opportunities, encourage them to elevate issues and ultimately if needed facilitate the removal of barriers to move projects forward.

   

   

   

Qualifications:  

  • Ability to effectively lead a group through current processes and identification of opportunities for improvement.
  • Strong organizational skills to develop and execute plans to address improvement opportunities.
  • Strong independent leadership skills that can lead teams to solutions while solving bottlenecks and clearing barriers.
  • Interest and willingness to learn the technical skills required to build and maintain the MDC boards/applications.
  • Capability to create and publish documents, presentations and reports that are organized, easy to review and impactful, communicating important content and metrics to the organization.
  • Solid working knowledge of process mapping, analytics, and/or other continuous improvement

   

For Colorado locations only, In accordance with Colorado’s Equal Pay for Equal Work Act (SB19-085), we are including McCarthy’s good-faith and reasonable estimate of a range of entry level base compensation at the time of the posting.  This does not include possible bonus and other benefits which can impact total compensation. Given the dynamic nature of the large-scale commercial construction industry, a candidate’s project portfolio and background can change the role and compensation for which that candidate might be qualified.  The title and pay range for this role could change based on candidate qualifications and experience. Pay Range: $102,700 - $128,400
