Job Title: Business Office Coordinator
As our Business Office Coordinatorat Lakeway Ambulatory Surgical Center you are going to be working closely with our Business Office Coordinators and Business Office Manager. Between the three of you, you'll be responsible for ensuring the smooth running of the back and front office, while maintaining a fun environment. Your role consists of a diverse array of activities you'll be responsible for. We move fast, and as our Business Office Coordinator you will be able to find elegant solutions to everyday problems.
Role Objectives : Employee may be responsible for all or some of the role objectives based on delegation by the Business Office Manager and division of duties within the business office.
  • Work in coordination with the physician's office to obtain orders and schedule surgeries
  • Work in coordination with the physician's office to obtain authorizations
  • Coordinate scheduling with anesthesia providers to ensure coverage for day of surgery
  • Update patient demographics/information in system as needed
  • Responsible for the identification and proper data entry of insurance and demographics
  • Verifies specialty outpatient and inpatient insurance, both primary and secondary coverage (when applicable by service type), within set timeframes determined by business office manager
  • Verification includes obtaining and documenting covered and non-covered benefits, plan type, co-payment, co-insurance, out of pocket, and deductible amounts and determining contract and benefit eligibility
  • Responsible for notifying the patient of any significant gaps in coverage and/ or high co-pays or deductibles prior to services being rendered
  • Responsible for financial coordination with the patient in accordance with collection policy
  • Ensure all necessary documentation is obtained for medical claim submission
  • Manager and organize patient medical records
  • Register patients on day of surgery
  • Drive you own initiatives around the office and look for new ways to improve
  • Be the face of Lakeway Surgery Center - you will be an integral part in creating an amazing employee and patient experience
  • Promote a favorable facility image to patients, physicians, and families
  • Manage incoming calls - respond promptly and accurately to telephone, written, and electronic inquires from patients, providers and others
  • Maintains a thorough understanding of all major insurance plans and all ancillary procedures conducted by Lakeway Surgery Center and medical terminology and coding practices
  • Ensure compliance with the Joint commission and all other Federal, State and Regulatory agencies
  • Serve as a backup to other team members in the business office
  • Other duties, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice

Job Requirements
  • 2 years experience in medical business office setting
  • Practical work experience demonstrating your ability to juggle multiple tasks, frequent interruptions, and having to re-evaluate priorities
  • A demonstrated track record of written and oral communication, critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Familiarity with medical terminology, private insurance, government insurance and HMO & PPO insurance plans
  • Customer service and phone skill experience
  • Computer skills

Preferred
  • Experience in an ASC or Hospital setting
  • Knowledge and proficiency with surgery scheduling with hospitals and outpatient surgery centers
  • Knowledgeable of medical terminology and procedures, specific to orthopedics
  • Experience with third party payer billing regulations, reimbursement requirements, precertification, utilization management, and/ or coding practices
