The Business Manager will direct the management of the finances and business office support for the Department of Computer Science on the WL campus and the Purdue Indianapolis campus, exceeding $62.4M dollars in weighted annual expenditures. Serve as the resource/liaison for the Department to the College and central offices. Provide proper interpretation of University, Federal, State, and sponsoring agency policies, and procedures. Collaborate closely with central business service operations and other related entities in meeting the strategic goals of the University. This position will play a key role in the preparation of financial and management reports to support long-range planning forecasts; budget recommendations, planning, and analysis; and financial analysis and strategic financial management of Department resources. Serve as a mentor and key resource person to peers within the Business Office. Maintain a unit that provides excellent business management support to Department Heads, Directors, faculty, staff, and students.
This position also plays a key role in serving as Business Manager Lead over the CoS/Pharm Payroll Service Center. Supervise staff, assign workload, work collaboratively with central payroll and other centers leads to solve problems, and provide excellent customer service while efficiently and accurately processing all payroll actions.

Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management, Finance, or a related field of study
- 6 years of business administration, financial management, or related experience
- Six credit hours of accounting coursework desired
- Ability to analyze, interpret, implement, and communicate University policies and procedures.
- Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent planning, problem-solving, analytical, organizational, project management, financial analysis, supervisory, and customer service skills.
- Ability to influence and build work relationships among a diverse workforce at all levels.
- Must be able to foster a participative supervisory style that utilizes accountability, respect, and teamwork to successfully guide the work of others.
- Must possess a learning orientation to changing technology impacting business processes, e.g. SAP, etc.
- Proficient in the following software: Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Demonstrate originality, creativity, and ability to resolve complex issues daily
Preferred:
- A demonstrated knowledge of sponsor and University regulations and basic proficiency in all technical and professional skills related to business office and contract grant management
- Knowledge of SAP, Cognos, and Banner
