Job Summary:
Position is responsible for the supervision of Business Office staff. Oversee vendor contract QI. The primary responsibility of the Business Office Manager is to assist in optimizing the revenue of the surgery center. Additionally, this role is responsible for coordinating communication and processes with outsourced Business Office departments.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
- Supervises and coordinates activities of the employees in the Business Office.
- Oversees Business Office operations, such as medical records management, registration, billing, and financial management.
- Review's Business Office policies and procedures making changes as needed.
- Analyzes monthly financials and prepares variance reports for Executive Director.
- Oversees revenue cycle management with reconciliation of A/R.
- Prepares monthly financial reports for management and APSC Board.
- Assists with the development and maintenance of management and APSC Board reports.
- Assists with the development and monitoring of annual budget.
- Initiates cost reduction programs.
- Assures compliance with quality standards for external agencies and accreditation bodies, along with state and federal regulations.
- Approves accounts to bad debt and assigns accounts to collections.
- Recommends and maintains the facility fee schedule in accordance with reimbursement performance, Medicare profiles, and other pertinent information.
- Responsible for annual CPT updates and ICD changes, along with implementing charge development for new procedures.
- Works in collaboration with leadership, Orthos and OrthoAlliance.
- Stands as the back-up for the senior accountant in regards to financial duties
- Monitor vendor contracts QI.
- Participate in the Center's Quality Improvement Program activities, including identification of opportunities for cost reductions and efficiencies.
- Attend all Center meetings and educational opportunities.
- Perform other duties as requested or assigned.
HIPAA Compliance:
- Business Office Manager will have full access to Medical Records.
Minimum Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities:
- Requirement of Associates degree and/or 5 years of previous supervisory experience in a Surgery Center preferred.
- Similar accounting experience in a health care setting preferred.
- Knowledge of journal entries.
- Interpersonal communications skills that allow effective interaction with a variety of health care professionals and personnel.
- The ability to work independently; organize and prioritize work; meet deadlines; and perform under time pressure.
- Intermediate to advanced Excel knowledge.
- Ability to operate various office equipment, including computer, copy machine, fax machine, and other common office equipment.
