The BI Operations Manager will bridge the gap between strategy and execution within the Business Intelligence team. The individual in this position will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the BI team, ensuring that the department's strategic vision is translated into actionable, efficient workflows and tangible results. Acting as both a team supervisor and a project manager, this role demands a unique blend of leadership, organizational acumen, and strong communication skills. The BI Operations Manager will coordinate closely with various departments, including liaising with external business units and internal teams like ETL and Data Governance, to ensure seamless project execution, quality assurance, and adherence to best practices. This role is essential in fostering a collaborative team environment, driving operational excellence, and contributing to the overall strategic direction of our BI initiatives. Performs other projects and duties as assigned.

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the daily operations of the BI team, ensuring effective execution of projects and tasks and to provide guidance, mentorship, and resource management.
  • Lead and optimize BI project workflows and detailed project plans, including managing timelines, resource allocation and tracking progress.
  • Act as the operational driver, translating the Director's strategic vision into actionable plans.
  • Coordinate effectively with the ETL team and other stakeholders, managing dependencies and communications.
  • Foster a collaborative and productive team environment, aligned with strategic goals.
  • Oversee the BI team's daily activities, which includes managing the ticketing system and reviewing, prioritizing, and assigning tasks.
  • Conduct regular and systematic reviews with the Director to align priorities and adjust plans as necessary.
  • Serve as a key liaison between the BI team, external business units, and other internal teams.
  • Oversee quality control processes, ensuring all deliverables meet high standards and business needs.
  • Adhere to BI best practices and ensure that BI projects and tasks are in compliance with established standards.
  • Identify potential risks in projects and workflows, developing and implementing contingency plans as needed.
  • Assist in strategic planning by providing operational insights to inform and enhance BI strategy.
  • Identify and suggest improvements in processes and project management practices.
  • Organize and lead regular team meetings to ensure alignment on goals and priorities.
  • Provide strong leadership, guiding the team with a focus on resource management and efficient allocation.
  • Foster a team environment that values structure and process.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Competencies:

  • Understanding of software development standards & practices, including the Agile & Scrum methodologies, versioning & source control, and change management.
  • Excellent time management & prioritization skills.
  • Familiarity with banking & financial industry terminology & practices strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with Visual Studio & Microsoft programming languages preferred.
  • Proficient with using Excel for basic data quality and data validation checks.
  • Efficient time management & prioritization skills.

Industry and Work Experience:

  • 5+ years of BI experience with a large organization.
  • Experience working with Power BI or similar tools required.
  • Banking and/or finance industry experience strongly preferred.

Academic:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
