Job description

Roles & Responsibilities:

Key Objectives:

  • Develops and executes the Resort security strategy to ensure that appropriate measures are taken to mitigate areas of potential risk and to combat existing and emerging threats.
  • Promotes a health, safety, and security conscious culture and takes necessary action to correct any unsafe acts or business practices.
  • Leads the resort in emergency situations and develops emergency preparedness and planning procedures. Executes regular drills to ensure all stakeholders remain safe and secure.
  • Direct management and oversight of the security leadership team to ensure daily operations are running professionally and efficiently.
  • Identify and build relationships with key senior members of the emergency services community.
  • Leads, coaches and supports all direct reports in the operational delivery of the security strategy while ensuring guests receive the highest standards of customer service.

Main Responsibilities:


BUSINESS IMPACT/RESULTS

  • Manages department and business objectives, including all recruitment, training, appraisals, objective setting, development, and performance issues.
  • Directs Resort technical security efforts on locks, access control, communication/radio system, and CCTV surveillance.
  • Conducts security assessments, identifying potential threats, and implementing appropriate controls and countermeasures.
  • Supports the Health & Safety team in limiting guest claims through prompt response, reporting procedures and follow up.
  • Works closely with Profit Protection and Finance teams in developing and implementing procedures to combat loss and fraud from both inside and outside the company.
  • Directs incident response procedures, including the ability to detect security incidents, investigate security breaches, and respond effectively to mitigate the impact. This may involve coordinating with law enforcement, IT/Technical security teams, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Full responsibility for managing costs in line with operating budgets.
  • Ensure compliance with all Merlin Security related policies and procedures.
  • Fulfils the Resort Duty roles of “ Resort 10” and Incident Commander.

CREATIVITY

  • Act as a role-model for the Merlin values.
  • Proactively seek to drive change, bring innovation and maximize efficiencies and improvements within the department and across the Resort.
  • Remain at the forefront of industry leading physical security measures and incorporating best practices to LLFR.

COMMUNICATION

  • Provides timely and complete reporting of security incidents along with actions to prevent future occurrences.
  • Recruits, develops, and motivates the teams to deliver service excellence.
  • Builds and maintains positive and active working relationships with other departments.
  • Builds relationships & connections with local emergency and law enforcement services, attractions and state and federal authorities.
  • Demonstrates an ability to remain calm and effective in situations of conflict when faced with confrontational guests and staff and remain in overall control of incidents to prevent escalation.

MANAGING RESOURCES

  • Recruits and develops leadership and front-line staff, to include managing disciplinary actions and separations of direct reports when needed.
  • Coordinates team when responding to emergencies and alarms.
  • Ensures a 24 hour/365 day a year security communication base (LEGOBASE)
  • Responsible for and driving the Personal Development Plan process to ensure that all department staff members receive performance feedback and related development.
  • Creates a fun work environment to ensure the team is motivated, encouraged to openly express their own ideas, and are treated with respect.
  • Plans, promotes and implements staff survey initiatives to improve work environment.
  • Instigates action to ensure the immediate repair of all business-critical failures, minimal equipment downtime and optimum spares availability.
  • Ensures that all members of the team are trained , facilitating cross training between functions where possible and keeping accurate records for all staff.

Qualifications & Experience:

Skills, Experience & Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in the areas of law enforcement, security operations and/or emergency preparedness and response
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience leading teams of 25 or more
  • Conflict management and de-escalation skills to successfully carry out the responsibilities of the role.
  • Strong communication skills to include the ability to explain technical concepts in non-technical terms and to engage with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Knowledge of compliance regarding State and Federal legal requirements.
  • Proven leadership qualities, to include setting clear goals, providing direction and support to team members, and fostering a culture of security awareness and accountability.
