Description:
JOB SUMMARY:
The Department of Psychiatry Business Intelligence and Data Governance Administrative Officer is responsible, along with the department’s Director of Technology, for oversight, coordination, development, and support of the department’s Business Intelligence and Data Governance efforts, which includes dotted line supervision of Business Intelligence employees, including student employees, training and brainstorming best practices for meeting departmental needs, and interfacing with SOM data resources such as Compass, ARC, and SOM IS Business Intelligence. This position requires a knowledge of campus finance systems, productivity and quality metrics, and EPIC as well as CUMedicine. This position should understand clinical operations and needs related to procuring data for business plans, including understand the best way to present complex system financials in a comprehensive and clear way.
Key Responsibilities:
- General and active oversight of the department’s BI staff as well as contacts in partner areas such as Compass, ARC, and SOM IS.
- Provide expertise related to systems and Data points which could be utilized to achieve desired outcome.
- Responsible, with the Director of Technology and the Data Governance group, DFA, and Associate DFA, for setting priorities and assigning resources based on ROI.
- Sit on the Data Governance group for the department to establish and uphold best practices for maintenance of data and ethical use of data.
- Provide business and administrative expertise to the Governance group, BI staff, and other faculty working to create quality measures as well as financially sound and efficient reporting with helpful outcomes data.
- Provide expertise and make recommendations, along with the Director of Technology, related to appropriate training and certifications for staff and faculty.
- Collaboration across the department in an effort to maximize reporting and Data needs in a cohesive manner.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
- A bachelor’s degree in a business (e.g., Finance, Accounting), healthcare administration (e.g., Public Health, Healthcare Administration), quantitative (e.g., Statistics, Mathematics), or scientific (e.g., Engineering, Psychology) field.
- Experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree requirement on a year-for-year basis.
- Epic Certifications in Cogito, Clarity, and Caboodle, and at least one of Clinical Data Model or Revenue Cycle Data Model or ability to obtain required certifications within six months of hire.
- At least 3 years’ experience creating reports, visualizations, and/or analytics within a large healthcare organization (serving over 100 employees).
- Experience with common Business Intelligence tools such as PowerBI and Tableau and integrating such tools with various database technologies.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- A master’s or doctorate degree including coursework in Business Intelligence, mathematics, statistics, and/or data analysis.
- Already possesses all required certifications: Epic Cogito, Clarity, Caboodle, and one of Clinical Data Model or Revenue Cycle Data Model
- At least one year of experience with Epic Caboodle data warehouse and extending Caboodle
- At least one year of experience with Epic Clarity and experience creating custom tables enriched by Clarity data using scheduler and stored procedures
- Experience with non-Epic enterprise data warehouses using various database technologies such as Microsoft and Oracle.
- Experience creating and maintaining stored procedures, tables, scheduled jobs, and other database artifacts.
- Experience using PeopleSoft Finance and HR, Microsoft AX, or other systems used by CU Anschutz or its affiliates.
- Expert user of Excel and PowerBI.
- Experience with research methods, data gathering and dissemination.
- Experience in behavioral health preferred.
- Knowledge of Power Automate, DAX, VBA, Python, and/or R.
- Experience in finance, revenue cycle management, clinical operations, and human resources practices at CU Anschutz or its affiliates highly preferred.
- Experience in academic medicine highly preferred.
- Experience in mental health and knowledge of mental health billing highly preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of Microsoft 365 suite including Outlook, Word, Power Point, and Teams
- Epic Cogito, Clarity, and Caboodle
- PowerBI
- SQL and Power Automate, DAX, VBA, Python, and/or R
- High level of analytical ability
- Outstanding customer service skills and ability to navigate competing priorities and demands from stakeholders
- Advanced level knowledge of Structured Query Language (SQL).
- Advanced level knowledge of Microsoft Access and Microsoft Excel.
