South Metro Fire Rescue is currently accepting internal and external applications for Business Intelligence Analyst.
This is an on-site position not available for remote work.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES(The following statements are illustrative of the duties and responsibilities of the position and do not list every duty that may be required of the employee for this position. Utilizes predictive modeling to drive corporate decisions in all divisions and bureaus; collaborates with stakeholders throughout the organization to identify opportunities for leveraging company data to drive business solutions and optimize resources.
Mines and analyzes data from company databases to optimize product development and inform business strategies.
Develops custom data models and algorithms to apply to data sets; cleans and organizes data to uphold data standards; creates and maintains data dictionaries and/or metadata.
Assists with the design, implementation, and maintenance of complex SQL database systems for data warehousing, integration, analytics, and reporting.
Utilizes SSRS to create and maintain automated reporting functionality.
Collaborates with various functional teams and stakeholders to implement models and monitor outcomes; utilizes Power BI to produce interactive visualizations, reports, and dashboards to customers.
Assesses the effectiveness and accuracy of new data sources and data gathering techniques.
Creates and maintains standards for new and existing software solutions to combine disparate databases.
Develops processes and tools to monitor and analyze model performance and data accuracy.
Trains employees on project-related data procedures and guidelines, as needed.
Participates in on-call rotation providing after-hours support during evenings and weekends, as needed.
Performs additional job-related tasks and special projects, as assigned.
EDUCATION,EXPERIENCE,LICENSES& CERTIFICATIONS (An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position is qualifying.)
Bachelor’s degree in statistics, mathematics, computer science or a related field.
Five years of experience manipulating data sets and building statistical models.
Public safety or local government (fire or crime data analysis) experience preferred.
Possess and maintain a valid Colorado Driver’s license with an acceptable driving record in accordance with the SMFR’s Driving Records Policy.
Must obtain CPR certification within one (1) year of hire.
Proficiency in MS Office: Access, Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Publisher.
Experience using statistical computer languages (R, Python, SQL, etc.) to manipulate data and draw insights from big data or large data sets.
Experience working with and creating data architectures.
Basic knowledge of a variety of machine learning techniques (clustering, decision tree learning, artificial neural networks, etc.) real-world advantages or drawbacks, and familiarity with tools and frameworks for implementation.
Knowledge of advanced statistical techniques and concepts (regression, properties of distributions, statistical tests, and proper usage, etc.) and experience with applications.
Coding knowledge and experience with several languages: C#, Java, JavaScript, Python, etc.
Knowledge and experience in statistical and data mining techniques.
Strong knowledge of object-oriented analysis and design.
Experience using one or more cloud-based data science services.
Strong working knowledge of SQL Server add-on services (SSIS, SSMS, SSRS, SSAS).
Demonstrate interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective and positive working relationships with co-workers, fire department command personnel and members of other public agencies.
Ability and experience in managing projects amongst diverse stakeholders.
Detail-oriented with ability to organize and set priorities to multi-task efficiently and meet strict deadlines.
Ability to define problems, collect data quickly and accurately, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to work independently with minimal instruction and direction.
Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality.
Strong understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives, and remains familiar with South Metro’s standard concepts, practices, and procedures.
