Job Title: Business Development Specialist, Biopharma
Reports To: Director, Sales
Position Location: Remote USA
How will you make an impact?
Thermo Fisher Scientific’s Transplant Diagnostics Division (TDX) develops and sells several lines of Research Use Only (RUO) and In-Vitro diagnostics (IVD) histocompatibility (HLA) tests. This role will focus on positioning our reagents and services to enable our clients to identify patient populations that may benefit from a life-saving therapy.
What will you do?
The Junior Business Development Manager, Biopharma will serve to identify opportunities for partnerships with biopharma customers. The target market for this venture are drug companies and biopharma partners who are developing novel immunotherapies for a variety of indications. The role is a fast paced, emerging market role aimed at uncovering growth opportunities with biotechnology and biopharmaceutical clients. There will be a particular focus in cell therapy and immuno-oncology applications by marketing our portfolio of products and services. Key activities:
- Build out a Business Development opportunity funnel and generate revenue in the area of the BioPharma market. Focus on representing our products, testing services, and companion diagnostic (CDx) co-development services. The role will include evaluation of business opportunities and execution of long-term customer agreements.
- Understand the clinical strategies for prospective clients and provide regulatory-compliant solutions to include CDx co-development and/or testing services to support clinical trial progression.
- Build partnerships with our clinically focused businesses and sales organizations across the company to identify prospective partners across the globe and develop strategies for revenue growth.
- Collaborate with Alliance Management and Project Management teams to structure deals that are mutually beneficial to clients and the business.
- Analyze industry dynamics and competitive landscape to seek opportunities for expansion in novel growth markets and regions.
- Meet annual revenue/booking targets and record opportunities and sales activities in salesforce.com
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Bachelor’s degree required preferably in business, life sciences, economics or other related field.
- Ability to rapidly identify opportunities and build a strong funnel to grow this business segment.
- 3+ years of in-depth commercial, product management, Business Development and/or marketing in a related industry
- Strong intuition for business and a consistent track record to develop and maintain professional and personal relationships with key business partners and customers positively impacting business growth
- Knowledge of clinical trial and regulatory pathways for IVD and/or therapeutics is preferred.
- Excellent communication, team-building, and leadership skills
- Excellent presentation and analytical skills
- Demonstrated success working in a global, matrixed-environment with ability to influence without direct authority
- Ability to understand, analyze and assimilate sophisticated issues, draw correct conclusions and formulate clear strategy and policies
- Willingness to travel up to 50%, both domestic and internationally
