The Company
Intellijoint Surgical develops effective and easy-to-use products to enhance surgeons’ care and patients’ lives. Today, Intellijoint technology lives in the operating room, helping surgeons improve implant positioning during hip and knee replacement surgeries. Our technology has been used in over 50,000 surgeries. We are seeking a Business Development Representativeto help bring innovative technologies to the market in the Southeastern region.
The Position
TheBusiness Development Representative will drive the business expansion of Intellijoint Surgical into new sales territories in the Southeastern region. This role reports to the Director of Sales. This is a fast-paced position working with thought leaders in the orthopedic surgery field. This position is an opportunity to work with a disruptive technology that can improve surgical outcomes and restore a patient’s quality of life. It requires a motivated individual who can quickly identify and establish relationships with numerous stakeholders, including surgeons, OR staff, and hospital administrative personnel. This position is suited for someone who can thrive in a dynamic environment with an unpredictable & flexible schedule.
Main Duties:
As a Business Development Representative, the primary responsibility is to achieve your individual, pre-defined annual revenue target. Specifically, you will work independently and at the direction of the Regional Sales Manager to expand Intellijoint’s business within the defined Region. The main duties to achieve this are:
New Business Generation: Lead and/or manage complex selling activities involving multiple decision-makers and teams of buyers. This includes activities such as generating leads, making sales calls, identifying decision-makers, influencing change in customers, and gaining/renewing hospital contract approvals.
New Account Launch: Become technically proficient at all indications and provide surgical case coverage to uphold the safe and effective use of Intellijoint Surgical’s technology during a new customer’s adoption phase.
Account Management: Transition customers to product usage independence. This includes providing and documenting formal training sessions to surgeons, nurses, physician assistants, scrub techs, sterile processing associates, and other hospital staff. Account management will involve training and coordinating with distributors and/or independent representatives to maintain clinical activities and establish transparent case reporting in certain situations.
Distribution Partners Support: Establish strong relationships with our Regional distribution partners. Execute quarterly strategy meetings and after-action reviews to monitor progress and continuous learning and improvement. Maintain communication and align with distribution partners ensuring that they meet Intellijoint’s expectations (Operational Plan and clinical/training/case reporting commitments).
Business Strategy: Develop and propose business justification to support hiring additional, employees and creating new selling pods.
Personal Accountability: At the direction of the Director of Sales, consistently communicate activities, document projected new business pipeline, and utilize reporting with peers and sales management through Intellijoint’s CRM tools.
Continuous Product Improvement: Work collaboratively with the Regional Product Specialist team to convey customer feedback and provide insights into new opportunities and/or programs for growth.
Inventory & Logistics: Maintain, track, and effectively deploy equipment and assets throughout the assigned area, guaranteeing product availability and accurate inventory. Ensure Intellijoint Surgical’s products and offerings meet the highest quality standards. Including, maintaining presentable promotional materials. Help with in-territory distribution/logistics such as tray and consumable delivery to facilities, system updates, and system setup.
Skills and Experience to Enable Success:
3+ years of progressive sales success in the medical device, medical technology, or orthopedics industry; Or
5+ years of sales experience with a consistent track record of exceeding targets.
Skilled in business communications, sales presentations, influencing without formal authority, and the ability to understand and articulate the value of the company’s products in both clinical and economic terms.
Strong emotional intelligence with the ability to use a methodical approach to selling within unique hospital and surgical settings.
Ability to make thoughtful, independent decisions in fast-paced, high-stress situations
Strong technical aptitude, including mental math and trigonometry
A basic knowledge of anatomy is a highly desirable asset
Experience working in a clinical setting, Operating Room and/or cadaver lab environment is a highly desirable asset
The successful candidate will need to be comfortable with the following:
Extensive travel, often on short notice:
Overall travel – up to 80% of the time with general expectations:
Travel in Region – up to 70% of the time
Travel to other Regions/HQ – up to 10% of the time
Working on a flexible work schedule, with occasional weekend and after-hours work.
Business Development Representatives are a primary resource for scheduled and on-call assignments to address business needs.

Frequent 2-handed lifting of up to 40 lbs. from floor to chair/table and from one surface to another at approximately the same level.
Sitting, standing and/or walking for up to eight plus hours per day.
Environmental exposures include eye protection, infectious disease and radiation.
Ability to wear 7-9 lbs of lead for extended periods of time while in the Operating Room.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus in relation to travel and operating a personal computer.
Has access to a vehicle and must have a valid driver's license and active vehicle insurance policy.
Ability to satisfy credentialing requirements for hospital access, including hospital-mandated vaccination requirements and/or other health screening requirements.
Ability to navigate tight spaces within an Operating Room.
