Business Development Manager
Location: United States, Glenview, Flexible Hybrid Schedule
Team: Business Development
Reports to: Senior Vice President, Business Development
About the Role
Work within the Business Development team to grow and diversity funding support, mainly from the pharmaceutical, medical device, and biotech industries. Serve as a key point of contact and account manager for an assigned group of current industry partners and supporters. Match potential supporters, clients, and partners with services, products, and opportunities offered by CHEST. Develop proposals and guide opportunities through contract execution. Cultivate relationships with new key industry contacts.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate a passion for crushing lung disease and embody CHEST values: honor the team, lead with integrity, leverage passion, cultivate innovation, and have serious fun.
- Build and maintain understanding of CHEST products, services, and offerings.
- Serve as primary contact and account manager for a select group of industry partners who provide funding support to CHEST for various educational projects and other opportunities. Develop and grow strong relationships with key cross-functional contacts (marketing, medical, advocacy, market research, etc.) within these organizations.
- Work within the Business Development team and across other CHEST Divisions to develop fundable proposals. Present proposals to potential customers and supporters. See opportunities through contract execution, negotiating with external partners and following internal CHEST processes for review.
- When appropriate, make referrals to co-workers within the Business Development team. Share information and updates on prospects, proposals, and opportunities within the team.
- Research and develop new prospective supporters. Reach out to and set up introductory calls with potential new contacts and partners to introduce them to CHEST product offerings and capabilities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and 4-6 years of directly relevant experience.
- Prior experience in Business Development, medical associations, and/or the health care industry.
- Skills to manage and balance multiple competing priorities/projects
- Experience in proposal development and contracting
- Experience with project management software.
- Open to feedback, advice, and input from others
- Ability to identify problems and provide solutions.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills. Comfortable leading phone calls.
- Master's degree, preferred
- Experience working in or with a medical societies or association or health care setting, preferred
- Knowledge of the pharmaceutical and device industries, preferred

Additional Information
The annual base salary range for this position is USD $108,000 to USD $115,000. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, or other items. CHEST considers factors such as, but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, and market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
