Position Summary
The Business Development Manager for Power Systems is responsible for managing the Orange EV power system product line (Stationary Battery, BMS, etc.) throughout its lifecycle. This role leads the conceptualization of new power system products, the development of related business cases, business plans, and partnerships, assistance to engineering with the transition to production of new products, and ongoing management of the product line and relevant partnerships. This individual also leads the development and execution of related strategies to offer a whole product to target customers. This role reports to our Director of Business Development.
Position Responsibilities
- Develop business cases and business plans to evaluate potential new product opportunities, including:
- Analyze markets, customers, the competitive landscape, and the company
- Identify and prioritize customer problems to address, and its corresponding product definition
- Develop innovative new business models for new products, as needed
- Develop financial models to assess the financial viability of potential new products
- Assist engineering with product development milestones, prototype builds, and initial production builds
- Provide ongoing support of engineering teams as new power system products are being developed
- Support manufacturing and marketing teams for first power system production builds and launch of new products
- Provide ongoing support to other functions during the product’s lifecycle (cradle to grave product support)
- Research and communicate upcoming electrical power technology trends that have a bearing on Power Systems
- Lead other projects and tasks as assigned by management
Position Qualifications
We are seeking a highly motivated business professional with qualifications that include:
- 5+ years in successful product management or project management roles
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in electrical engineering or a technical/scientific field
- Prior successful experience with power system new product development and new product launches
- Proven prior success in leading other individuals and project teams
- Proven technical ability to understand and communicate technical concepts and ideas
- Logical reasoning capability to consider financial and technical requirements, as well as organizational strengths
- Success engaging at multiple (including senior) levels within both internal and external organizations
- Work experience in electrical grid Power Systems, including transmission and/or distribution products
- Strong and concise written and verbal communication and presentation skills
- Ability to work well with others and lead team members from more technical departments
- Ability to keep her/his work organized and easily accessible for future reference
Ideal Candidates Will Also Have
- Entrepreneurial, proactive, and nimble disposition, and the ability to successfully deal with ambiguous situations
- Experience with transportation or electric vehicles and/or components related to vehicle electrification
- Work experience in or practical understanding of the trucking industry
