As the Business Development Manager, Fire Protection, you will manage the strategic growth of Hydrocarbon (H) and Cellulosic (C) Passive Fire Protection (PFP) in the United States, and Canada for the Protective & Marine Coatings (PMC) business. You will develop and direct implementation of the annual and long-term sales, marketing, and technical strategies for the PFP segment within PMC, assuring that sales and profitability targets are achieved. The Business Development Manager will guide the direction of new product development utilizing input from the commercial teams, and coordinate third-party certification priorities. A key accountability is to engage with customers, industry bodies, and regulators on the capabilities of our technologies. You will report to the Global Segment Director.
Key Responsibilities
• Achieve sales volumes and profitability goals by providing the necessary leadership for the commercial and technical sales teams, and by coordinating the sales effort for this technology.
• Recognized as the subject matter expert on market trends, key industry players, regulatory bodies, certification requirements, and the distinct needs in the various projects where PFP products are utilized.
• Communicate effectively at all levels of customer organizations, including top executives.
• Identify new business opportunities, and ensure continuing sales growth, by keeping abreast of new regulations, standards and guidance and market segment forces.
• Maintain technical knowledge of new products, techniques, and trends
• Maintain a professional image to the industry to enhance PPG's market position. Develop continued acceptance and recognition of PPG products as "World Class"
Qualifications
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering, chemistry, business, or a related degree.
• At least 10 years' experience in strategy, marketing, engineering, or sales within the chemical industry.
• Demonstrate creative and critical thinking skills
• Knowledge of commercial building, oil, gas and petrochemical industry's safety performance standards and regulations related to Fire Protection
• Detailed knowledge of the Fire Protection engineering and/or fire test methods is required
• Proficiency in gathering and analyzing market intelligence.
• Ability to assemble and organize multiple sources of intelligence into a clear market assessment.
