Ingles Markets began in 1963 as a single supermarket and has since grown into a regional grocery store chain with just under 200 retail locations operating in 6 southeastern states, a 1.6-million-square foot distribution center, two truck fleets, and a milk processing plant. Ingles Markets’ headquarters and distribution center are located just 15 minutes outside of Asheville, NC in the town of Black Mountain.

The Position

We are looking for a Business Analyst to join the Fuel Department. This analyst will identify opportunities to lower costs and increase efficiencies within the department. Additionally, the analyst will support the Fuel Department operations by preparing scheduled reports, provide forecasting, foster vendor relationships, analyze market trends and data, support new store openings and store upgrades, among other departmental duties. We are seeking the right individual who can grow into a leadership role, bringing new ideas and innovative solutions to the Fuel Department.

Key Responsibilities:

• Compile, analyze and review fuel consumption reporting, ensuring fuel data integrity.
• Provide forecast reporting for fuel consumption, pricing, and compliance audits.
• Manage fuel inventory and identify opportunities to lower costs and increase efficiency.
• Manage inventory control management system updates.
• Support the team with vendor management, inventory reconciliation, and financial analysis.
• Responsible for New Store Opening setups and existing store upgrades.
• Optimize convenience store/kiosk merchandise offering to improve profit and reduce shrink.
• Identify and troubleshoot load management failure.
• Perform continual analysis of market trends and data.
• Responsible for functional tasks including, but not limited to, ordering fuel, data entry, invoice management, and serving as back-up for other fuel team members.
• Make recommendations for continuous improvements and implement with team support, as appropriate and approved, act as a change agent within the department and the organization.
• Occasionally visit fuel terminals, suppliers, and carriers, as necessary.
• On-call communication for carriers and emergencies will be necessary.
• Manage fuel operations in select districts.
• Perform other duties and assignments as directed.
• Opportunity for hybrid work, with weekly in-office work after 90 days or at the manager’s discretion.

The Ideal Candidate:

• Bachelor’s Degree and 3+ years’ experience in an analyst role preferred.
• Fuel industry experience is highly desired.
• Is self-driven, capable of working independently, and efficiently manages their time and tasks.
• Highly effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to act as a change agent within their role.
• Exceptional analytical and advanced Microsoft Excel skills, critical accuracy needed in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be able to multitask, manage special projects, and use discretion with confidential information.
• Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of associates, management, and external agencies to maximize performance, creativity, problem solving, and results.
• Valid driver’s license.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $65,000.00 per year
