Job Description:
The Business Analyst is responsible for contributing to the business analysis portion of the program. Works to help ensure the business analysis track for the program is successfully executed. This includes the following components within the requirements process.
- Scope : Understand the overall scope of the program and be able to identify when requirements are needed and/or changing.
- Methodology and Artifacts : Participate in defining what tools, templates, methods, and best practices the Business Analysts will use throughout the duration of the program. Influence how requirements are elicited; what documentation will be produced; and how it will be signed-off and transitioned to other program resources (i.e., development and quality assurance/user acceptance testing). Participate in the development, management and implementation of document storage and retrieval.
- Documentation: Ensure that documentation is accurate and complete, meets the agreed upon standards, and deadlines are being met. Includes reviewing documentation for consistency and accuracy, especially as it relates to requirements that might span or relate to multiple functional areas.
- Estimating : Provide duration estimates for requirements elicitation, documentation, and review activities. Have an understanding about availability and expertise of the subject matter experts or other stakeholders who need to provide business knowledge and ultimately sign-off. Partner with the project manager to create a Business Analyst program schedule and milestone plan and manage to the same.
- Relationships : Build positive, productive relationships with the business stakeholders, subject matter experts, and others who will be the source of the requirements for the program.
- Communication : Participate in status meetings and other activities for the program. Contribute to the development of effective communication delivered to the business and technical community on behalf of the business analysis portion of the program.
