Job Description

This position is a dual role, building and yard maintenance and cleanup, and warehouse laborer. The primary responsibility will be building maintenance. The employee may also work at various steel cutting or shaping stations throughout the day or may work at a single position for eight hours per day, depending on company needs. This is a full-time position, 8 hours/day, Monday through Friday. Overtime may be necessary.

Primary Functions:

Building Maintenance and Repair/Stormwater

  1. Recordkeeping on building maintenance.
  2. Vendor management.
  3. Working with Building Management on projects.
  4. Stormwater Management– Housekeeping in yard.
  5. Facilitate stormwater permit requirements.

Filling Orders:

  1. Count and transfer nuts, bolts, couplings, and other metal products weighting ½ to 20 lbs. Up to 500 repetitions per day.
  2. Transfer and weigh heavy products with a hand truck requiring up to 50 lbs of push/pull force.
  3. Display sufficient hip, trunk, knee and ankle flexibility and strength to achieve a full squatting position and lift and transfer up to 90 pounds to 4-inch height less than one hour/day.
  4. Meet productivity standard of shipping 5-25 orders/day depending on customer demand.
  5. Demonstrate wrist and hand flexibility and manual dexterity to activate, operate, and/or manipulate machine controls and product up to 500 repetitions/day.
  6. Demonstrate communication skills to perform essential job functions consistent with safety procedures and production standards.

Cutoff Operator:

  1. Cut steel rod into 3-20 foot segments using cut off machine.
  2. Stack 2-30 pound segments between 2 and 6 feet on approximately 24-inch-high cart.
  3. Produce 100-500 segments/hour depending on length.
  4. Stack segments on cart.
  5. Pushcart 40 yards once/shift requiring up to approximately 60 lbs of effort.

Tester Thread roller 320

  1. Push/pull with 20 lbs of effort required.
  2. Lift up to 70 lbs from floor to 4-foot height 150-500 times/day.

Operating forklift:

Demonstrate adequate manual dexterity, neck flexibility, and hand-eye coordination to safely operate a stand-up or sit-down style forklift 1-1.5 hours/day. (Training available in 30 days).

Packaging:

  1. Wrap 5-20 pallets/day with ‘Saran Wrap’ using good body mechanics.
  2. Assemble cardboard boxes and fasten them together using foot pedal operated stapling machine less than one hour/day.

Prerequisites:

Drug testing required.

High school diploma and or associate degree.

Ability to read a tape measure.

Excellent driving record and valid OR driver’s license.

Adequate transportation.

Forklift certification preferred.

References Required.

Hazardous Material – Certification a plus but not required.

Not afraid of heights.

Ability to stand/walk up to 8 hours/day on concrete floor.

Demonstrate adequate tactile sensation, visual acuity, cognitive ability, auditory capacity, and communication skills to perform essential job functions consistent with safety procedures and production standards.

Pay will be based on experience.

Working Conditions:

Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment. Mechanical noise may be prevalent. Contact exposure to 700-800 degree Fahrenheit metal product with risk of severe burns is possible if safety procedures are not followed. Seasonal fluctuation of building temperatures is likely. Work involves frequent lifting of materials and product up to 50 lbs. unassisted. The plant requires the use of safety equipment to including safety glasses and steel-toe boots, as well as hearing protection and hard hats in required areas. Loose fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted.
