JOB TITLE:Budget Analyst I
REPORTS TO:Jim Kubera, Deputy Program Manager
LOCATION: Johnson Space Center, Houston, Texas
WHEN:3 Days on Site, 2 Days Remote per NFSS Contract
JOB SUMMARY:Responsible for reviewing the organization's budget and approving spending requests through evidence-based analyses of merit and authenticity. They monitor their assigned organization's expenditures against set budgets while preparing accurate reports that estimate future financial needs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Developing organizational budget with managers
- Reviewing proposals for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with company standards
- Consolidating the organizational budget for review
- Vetting funding requests for merit and authenticity
- Monitoring spending and keeping the organization within its set budget
- Preparing reports and estimating future financial needs
- Defending budget recommendations with data and evidence-based analyses
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Serves as an apprentice to systematically integrate business and financial management processes to aiding to ensure the efficient stewardship of public funds.
- Possesses a basic understanding of budget formulation, execution, and administration process.
- Under contractor supervision, able to assess products and procedures for compliance with Government standards and sound financial management principles.
- Familiar with Excel.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Education: BS/BA in accounting; 0-2 years of experience in the field or related area
WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential. Sedentary, sitting, walking, occasional lifting from floor, and bending. Frequent near vision uses for reading and computer use. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Effective 3/1/2023, NASA’s Johnson Space Center requires resources supporting the financial processes as part of the NFSS contract, to be onsite three (3) days per week.
Prefer US Citizenship. Subject to a background check and drug screening. Must sign a Confidentiality Agreement and abide by confidentiality regarding program and personnel matters.
