GENERAL SUMMARY:
Responsible for assisting in the preparation of the financial statements, annual capital and operating budgets, reviewing monthly management reporting, developing provider and department productivity reports, and completing ad hoc analysis. Provides integral assistance to the Chief Financial Officer and auditors as it relates to areas of expertise.
PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

- *Performs analysis of financial information to ensure accurate and timely processing per departmental and regulatory standards.
- *Assesses user needs and makes necessary improvements as they relate to general accounting functions within accepted standards.
- *Understands, utilizes and educates others regarding accepted accounting theory and practice to prepare and interpret a broad range of financial reports used by internal managers and leadership.
- *Assists and advises departments within Bryan Heart regarding financial processes, forecasting annual budgets, and review of monthly financials.
- *Tracks and reconciles business expense accounts for providers.
- *At the direction of CFO, performs financial statement analysis to provide explanations on account fluctuations.
- *Prepares financial statements for joint venture and other ad hoc financial analyses.
- *Prepares monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements, including detailed analysis and explanation of major balance sheet and income statement accounts for Bryan Heart.
- Calculates and reviews monthly accounts receivables and revenue deduction allowances.
- Serves as the lead system user for all software-based issues related to Infor (Lawson)
- Serves as the finance department lead with Epic IT team for accounts receivable interfaces.
- *Provides support to CFO and guidance to Staff Accountant(s). Prepares journal entries and financial statements, supports audit process, including work papers, financial statement notes and year-end schedules.
- Prepares annual personal property tax returns on behalf of Bryan Heart.
- *Coordinates budget preparation and training for leadership and assists CFO with preparation of final budget.
- *Reviews and projects cash flow requirements for Bryan Heart; submits requests for cash infusions.
- Advances work knowledge by participating in continuing education in-services, reading periodicals/literature and seeking ongoing development opportunities. Maintains working knowledge of new accounting standards and practices based on industry literature and serves as primary resource for this information for the department.
- Participates in meetings, committees and department projects as assigned.
- Performs other related projects and duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of accepted accounting theory and practice.
- Knowledge of applicable federal, state and local tax laws and regulations.
- Knowledge of quality improvement, budgetary and financial methods and practices.
- Knowledge of computer hardware equipment and software application relevant to work functions.
- Skill in accessing information from various computer databases and merging the information into a usable format.
- Skill in assisting customers in a patient and appropriate manner with questions and concerns.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field of study required. Master’s degree or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification preferred. Minimum of three (3) years accounting experience required. Additional experience in healthcare accounting and knowledge of healthcare regulations desired.
