About Clever Carnivore:
Clever Carnivore is a mission-driven start-up looking to bring low-cost, top-quality cultivated pork, beef, and chicken to the consumer market utilizing stem cell biology, recombinant protein technology, and advanced bioreactor engineering. We are seeking an innovative Scientist/Engineer to join a collaborative and cross-functional process development team working towards bringing our process from lab-scale to pilot scale and further develop our product portfolio.
Responsibilities:
- Day-to-day setting up, sterilizing, and running multiple bioreactor systems with minimal supervision
- Independently design, execute, and run assays for 2D and 3D cell culture experiments
- Support the design and execution of cross-functional bioprocess and media development studies
- Support the commissioning, validation, tech transfer, and start-up of production scale reactors
- Qualify new controllers, bioreactor vessels, and other related hardware
- Support the drafting of standard operating procedures, reports, development plans, and other technical documents
- Summarize quantitative data and disseminate it in a clear and concise manner to other lab members and various leadership teams
Position Qualifications and Requirements:
Education:
Preferred MS/PhD in biological sciences, chemical/biological engineering, biomedical engineering, biotechnology, or a related life/physical science field. Title and salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
Requirements:
- 0 - 5 years of experience in biologics R&D, process development, or biotech manufacturing
- Successful utilization of aseptic technique in a laboratory or cGMP manufacturing setting, preferably with stem cells
- Knowledge and experience working with mammalian cells in reusable suspension bioreactors and other 3D cell culture systems
- Willing to work evenings and weekends as needed to meet cell culture operational requirements
- Comfortable working on a small, yet fast growing team of passionate scientists
Other Skills:
Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite of products
Experience in various data analysis and visualization software (ex. ImageJ, Prism, JMP, etc.)
Experience presenting complex technical information to senior leadership
Proficient in proper lab and aseptic techniques
Compensation:
$75,000 – 100,000, based on experience; 30 days PTO (to be used for vacation, sick days, personal days, holidays, etc.); medical and dental insurance.
This position reports to the Manager of the Process Development Team in the R&D department and qualified individuals must be authorized to work in the United States. This is a full-time, on-site position at our Chicago headquarters.
