Reporting to the Director of Reimbursement, this position is responsible for directing certain reimbursement functions related to the hospitals of Henry Ford Health System.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Coordinate the preparation and analysis of medical education data for cost reports, monthly revenue calculations, and net revenue budgets.
2. Manage duties of remote Sr. Analyst working on medical education.
3. Planning and coordinating of third party audits and appeals.
4. Maintain expertise in reimbursement regulations & strategies through appropriate education and provide education and consultation to other reimbursement staff members.
5. Provide System leadership and education in area(s) of expertise.
6. Completes other special reimbursement projects as needed.
7. Review current and proposed regulations, calculate reimbursement impacts, and draft comments on the proposed regulations.
8. Standardize hospital workpapers, reports, documentation, and procedures.
9. Formalize and maintain policies and procedures for Reimbursement functions
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or other related field required.
- Master's degree preferred.
- Ten (10+) years of progressively more responsible experience in healthcare reimbursement is required.
- Thorough knowledge of and experience with Medicare Cost Report appeal and reopening process, including deadlines, various PRRB forms, and MAC requirements.
- Ability to manage multiple ongoing appeals and reopenings.
- Extensive Medicare Cost Report reimbursement regulation knowledge, especially medical education, organ acquisition, DSH and Medicare bad debts.
- Demonstrated ability to train staff on various reimbursement regulation changes.
- Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and a thorough understanding of third party reimbursement mechanisms.
- Ability to communicate in clear concise terms both written and orally.
- Excellent computer skills including expertise in Excel and Access.
- Well-developed conceptual and analytical skills.
- High level of interpersonal, management and organizational skills.
