(BOB) is a Delaware Public Benefit Corporation on a mission to solve the climate impact of cattle by working with farmers and food companies to commercialize and rapidly scale the production and use of our proprietary, algae-based livestock feed ingredient. The Processing Technician reports to the Product & Processing Manager and plays an important role in completing all warehouse processing tasks and deliverables including: receiving and recording incoming biomass, batching prep, sample prep, milling, mixing, sampling, packaging, and order preparation. In addition, applicants for this role must be comfortable working in a full-face respirator, coveralls, and in hot/cold environments for extended periods of time. Lastly, applicants for this role must be OK lifting heavy objects and open to flexible working hours during warm summer months to ensure worker safety.
Specific responsibilities of this role include:
- Receive and record bulk batch biomass from farm production sites
- Working and final product batch biomass preparation
- Sample preparation
- Shredding, milling, mixing, and sampling of working batch biomass
- Mixing, packaging, and labeling of final product and base product for other product types Real-time Inventory management of working and final product batches
- Routine processing area cleaning and equipment inspections before & after each working day
Shipping and Receiving Logistics
- Pick-up and drop-off shipments as needed using the company vehicle
- Assist with order preparation and fulfillment duties
- Palletizing, boxing, wrapping, shipment weighing, shipment organization
- Provide real-time updates to shipping logistics tasks in software and to all necessary parties
Other Requirements for this role are as follows:
- Must be able to work in a full-face respirator for long periods (2-4 hours at a time)
- Respirator and all replacement cartridges, filters and parts provided by BOB
- OSHA approved medical exam and respirator fit testing provided by BOB
- Must be able to work in coverall suits for long periods of time (2-4 hours at a time)
- Must be able to work in hot and cold environments with seasonal changes
- Must be able to lift heavy boxes, drum and other objects as part normal processing operations (~50 lbs)
Working Schedule
- Must be flexible with daily working schedule during hot summer months
- We strive for a standard 8AM-4:30PM work day schedule for this role but earlier or later shifts may be necessary during hotter months to ensure worker safety
- Must be OK to occasionally work a weekend shift and overtime as needed
- We hope to avoid all overtime and weekend work but candidate must be flexible and OK with occasional weekend work and overtime
Other Requirements
- Must have a current California driver's license with a clean record and willing to drive the company truck as needed
- Ability to use math skills in performing duties.
- Ability or willingness to learn to utilize processing equipment and heavy machinery
- Ability to learn and use various computer systems (for example: Excel, Google docs, Airtable, etc)
- Ability to work with and around chemicals such as bleach and alcohol, following all safety guidelines.
