Job Description
SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Billing Specialist is an important part of Vibrant Health’s Revenue Cycle Management. Their responsibilities will include the creation of claims across all departments, payment posting, follow up on denials, account reviews, timely correspondence with our providers and patient service representatives, and other billing related duties as assigned.
It is important that this individual work well in a collaborative, team-based environment.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESULTS
• Timely creation and submittal of clean claims to third party payers
• Electronic and manual insurance payment posting
• Reviewing and following up on claims with errors as identified before being submitted
• Researching and resubmitting denials received from third party payers
• Following up on unpaid or incorrectly paid claims with insurances, as needed
• Reviewing patient accounts for accuracy, insurance verification, statement generation, and patient payment collection
• Responding to related billing questions from patients and staff (most often patient service representatives and providers)

• Accepts and uses supervision, direction and consultation to maximize available resources in the completion of work duties.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
• At least two years related experience required
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
• Ability to function well in a high-paced environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
• High school degree or above required
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
• Previous medical/healthcare billing experience and working in and Electronic Medical Records system (specifically eClinicalWorks)
• Experience working with Kansas Medicaid, Medicare, and Commercial payers
• Certified Professional Coder Certification and/or working knowledge of CPT and ICD coding

• Position involves extensive use of computer, telephone, fax and copier equipment.
• Frequent standing and walking required.
• Employment is contingent upon successful clearance from Criminal, Kansas and Missouri Child/Elder Abuse and Neglect, Sex Offender background investigations, TB testing, pre-employment drug testing, and verification of Hepatitis-B, flu and COVID-19 immunizations.
• Occasional evening and weekend availability is required.
