Billing Specialist

Billing Specialist needed for busy, fast-paced Orthopedic & Sports Medicine practice. Duties include: scheduling appointments, greeting patients and their families, handling insurance and authorization tasks, as well as entering information into computer systems. Must have at least 1 year of front-office experience and excellent communication skills. Must have extensive knowledge of prior authorizations and insurance-related tasks.

Responsibilities:

• Schedule appointments for both new and established patients
• Check patients into the practice
• Collect co-pays and payments
• Very positive personality
• Audit billing thru Athena Software
• Run insurance eligibility and verification through our EHR; notate patient responsibilities in EHR
• Account receivables; patient payments, surgical payments, DME payments etc.
• Submit and scrub prior authorizations for surgeries
• Obtain authorizations for durable medical equipment
• Candidates should be someone willing to cross-train in other office duties as necessary and be a team player
• Candidates for this position should have excellent phone and customer service skills, the ability to multitask and be comfortable talking to insurance companies and patients
• Update all patient records as needed
• Answer phones
• Work with physicians and other staff in a respectful manner
• Enjoy working with others and conversing with patients
