Join our team as a Benefits Specialist - Associate in Auburn Hills, MI, where you'll play a pivotal role in the day-to-day management of U.S. Health & Welfare plans and Retirement Plans.

 

 

The Benefits Specialist is responsible for a variety of benefits-related duties in the US. This role will assist with day-to-day management of U.S. Health & Welfare and Retirement plans, concentrating on wellness initiatives and administration.

 

About the Role

How you will contribute

 

  • Supports the administration of U.S. employee benefit programs, such as group life, medical, dental, vision, disability, EAP. and 401(k), etc.
  • Responsible for thoroughly understanding multiple systems (i.e., benefits administration system, payroll, HRIS, benefit / wellness portals).
  • Advises employees on eligibility, plan coverage, completion of forms, process, etc. Makes independent decisions regarding eligibility, participation and plan information. Investigates issues and facilitates resolution. Processes benefit enrollment/changes.
  • Complies with the provisions of local, state, and Federal programs (i.e., COBRA, HIPAA and ERISA) and ensures benefits compliance under the guidelines of the plan design and legal parameters.
  • Supports the data gathering and reporting required for filing of reports with state and Federal agencies and general reporting needs.
  • Reviews and audits payroll deductions weekly to ensure employee deductions are set up accurately and corrections are submitted timely to payroll as necessary.
  • Reviews, troubleshoots and resolves weekly error reports to eliminate reoccurring errors and manually processes corrections as needed.
  • Administers and manages the medical support process.
  • Involves frequent contact with vendors; coordinates with benefit vendors to obtain and explore educational and wellness information; reporting; and problem resolution (medical, dental, vision, life, disability, 401(k) etc.).
  • Leads wellness strategy, implementation and administration; developing and administering annual plan (to include feedback and results).
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Your Key Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor's degree and / or work- related experience.
  • Experience in a human resources department with benefits administration (working knowledge of the benefits, policies and procedures and / or exposure; ideally with hands-on administration of respective benefit plans).
  • Good knowledge of company and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to support all levels of the organization.
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Knowledge of various plan benefit offerings and support of employee benefit plans and programs.
  • Must be able to look at difficult situations and resolve accordingly and within the guidelines of legal parameters and complex benefits plan design.
  • Excellent administrative and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritized and adapt to change in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good Microsoft Office experience (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
