The Department of Psychiatry is seeking a Behavioral Health Coordinator to assist in the coordination of health care services for a Complex Care Clinic that assesses and cares for youth served by Iowa's foster care system. The Behavioral Health Coordinator will be a first contact for patients, Iowa foster care personnel, and foster families and will collect important healthcare information from multiple parties. This position will direct and coordinate the scheduling of needed services including in-person clinical assessment visits with one or more providers, will coordinate communication between UIHC and State of Iowa Health and Human Service (HHS) representatives, and will assist in the gathering of patient information and data for ongoing assessment of the clinic's work for monthly meetings.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
Clinical Coordination:
Monitor referrals made through phone and email communication from Iowa HHS personnel to the Complex Care Clinic.
Work with Clinic Director Physician to accept referrals and conduct pre-consultation assessments.
Contact multiple parties to obtain consents and documentations relevant to the full evaluation of the patient.
Coordinate all clinic activities which will be held on 2-4 days/month depending on provider availability. Activities include coordination of visits by a child psychiatrist, and any other personnel deemed necessary for the full evaluation.
Advocate for patients and families. Represent and promote the services of the division of child and adolescent psychiatry and related program. Participate in division program and activities.
Monitor patient visits and track communication with the clinic relevant to each patient.
Behavioral Health Functions:
Interview patients/clients, including their support people, to obtain relevant social history information.
Work within a multidisciplinary team of physicians, psychologists, and other providers throughout the assessment of the patient's needs.
Provide families and Iowa foster care personnel information regarding patient/client resources.
Attend and participate in training, meetings, conferences, and workshops.
Maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students, and the public.

POSITION TYPE: Specified Term, minimum of 12 months with the possibility of extension
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in psychiatry, psychology, social work, education, or another related field or and equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum of 6 Months - 1 year of progressively responsible experience in Behavioral Health.
Reasonable (6 months - 1 year) administrative, supervisory, and program experience
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Flexibility to work on a varied schedule to accommodate patient and provider schedules.
Demonstrated attention to detail and a high level of organizational skills.
Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
Desirable Qualifications
Master's degree in social work or equivalent combination of education and progressively responsible experience in the conduct of social work practice.
Experience collaborating with outside agencies.
Experience and training in working with diverse populations.
