Banking Center Manager Trainee
DEPARTMENT: Branch OperationsREPORTS TO: Retail Market Operations Manager, VP SUPERVISES:Branch Staff FSLA/STATUS: Full-Time / Non-Exempt
LOCATION: Evansville or Northern Region; Incumbent may be assigned and re-located to a branch within the Evansville or Northern Region as staffing and business initiatives dictate.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.; however, some evenings may be required.
Saturday rotation in Southern Market/Evansville Branches or Northern Market/Petersburg or Washington Branches; Occasional evening hours.

SUMMARY: Responsible for the day-to-day Retail Operation of the branch including scheduling, optimum customer satisfaction, branch security, retail compliance, standard operating procedures, audits, product knowledge, product referrals and sales promotion. Evaluates and trains staff of the branch daily with the goal of creating a team of knowledgeable professionals working intuitively together for the benefit of the customer and the bank. This position partners with the Retail Market Operations Manager and Human Resources on all reported employee relations issues including but not limited to employee conflicts/conduct, potential FMLA/ADA, performance reviews, progressive disciplinary actions, and daily staffing. This is a comprehensive position in which the incumbent will learn the intricacies of bank management and perfect business development skills in preparation for a potential leadership role. Will perform all related BSA functions.
QualificationsEDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting or Business-Related Field, or relevant experience required.
- Demonstrated capability of producing and increasing a retail and consumer loan products portfolio.
- Demonstrated capability of actively cross-selling, increasing new households and growing deposits.
- Extensive knowledge of teller and vault functions.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Successfully develop and exhibit skills such as leadership, employee relations, sales and service, communication, conflict management, team building, and employee engagement.
- Provides training for the development of staff and effectively addresses and works with the Retail Market Operations Manager and Human Resources to correct staff performance issues through effective coaching and follow-up.
- Develops and maintains effective relationships with internal business partners.
- Thoroughly understands functions of and will operate as: Teller, Lead Teller, Retail Banker Associate, Retail Relationship Banker, and Branch Manager.
- Perform a variety of branch operations and administrative functions to include successful and efficient day-to-day operations of all branch functions, managing expenses prudently, fraud prevention, conducting audits, assisting with staffing schedules and operational efficiency.
- Knowledge of branch security protocol. Ensures consistent compliance with safety and security procedures.
- Responsible for producing and growing retail products, consumer lending and commercial product portfolio.
- Knowledgeable of retail and consumer loan compliance, required reporting, applicable state and federal rules and regulations, loan operating systems, and required documentation governing retail and consumer lending.
- Develop and exhibit capability to analyze and identify solutions to customers' questions and needs.
- Proactively prospects for new retail and commercial business. Build and maintain a level of trust and responsibility with customers' business.
- Establishes and maintain key relationships and business contacts within the community.
- Become versed in analysis of financial statements, credit risks, loan policies and procedures.
- Become versed in commercial business products to promote, open and service commercial customers.
- Lead a team to consistently meet and exceed operational and sales goals.
- Knowledgeable of all deposit operations and functions that supports customers, branch offices and departments for deposit and internet banking services.
- Knowledgeable of all loan servicing and loan review operations and functions that support customers, lending departments, compliance, escrow, and collections.
- Expected to become versed in various federal regulations including Bank Secrecy Act, Community Reinvestment Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, Right to Financial Privacy Act, Gramm-Leach-Biley Act, Regulation CC, and Regulation E. HMDA compliance, Dodd-Frank compliance, ECOA, FCRA, SAFE Act and other credit and/or lending regulations under the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Strong leadership abilities.
- Sales experience, particularly in cross-marketing products and services.
- Ability to adapt to various operations and functions and quickly learn and develop knowledge of products, services, policies, procedures, operating systems, documentation, risks, and regulations necessary to highly perform in various departments.
- Strong and effective interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
- Good understanding of financial products and services.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment and manage in a positive manner with direct reports, peers, business partners and management.
ADA REQUIREMENTS: Work is performed in a professional office environment. Role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers, scanners, printers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. Sitting for long periods of time; May be required to lift items weighing up to 25-lbs. Would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.
