Role Definition:
Caterpillar IT is seeking a DevOps Cloud Engineer to join our AWS Cloud team. In this role, you will work alongside both peers and cloud architects to focus on creating foundational buildouts, CI/CD solutions, and cybersecurity efforts to support our internal partners’ needs. We have a focus on developing the next generation of IT professionals where you will gain a foundational knowledge of the manufacturing industry, as well as key technology trends.
What you will do:
- Performing development, automation, and deployment assignments without close supervision
- Working independently on complex, globally distributed cloud technology components that may be used by one or more applications or systems
- Support implementations, upgrades, and change requests on client environments
- Create, implement, and assist in the development of scripts to automate everyday operations
- Deploying or integrating cloud technologies based on requirements gathered from customers
- Assisting customers with documentation, training, and usability efforts.
Skill Descriptors:
Core Application Systems: Knowledge of major production application systems used for delivery of services to internal and external clients; ability to leverage major production application systems in diverse situations..
Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.
Implementation: Knowledge of how to run applications for organizations; ability to implement application software within an organization and help end-users perform specific tasks.
System Testing: Knowledge of system and software testing; ability to design, plan and execute system testing strategies and tactics to ensure the quality of software at all stages of the system life cycle.
What you have (Tops Candidates will also have):
- 1-3+ years or Master’s + 1yr on a DevOps team that runs enterprise-scale infrastructure operations or application development, with emphasis on CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps
- Experience developing automated solutions to deploy infrastructure or applications ( PowerShell, Python, JSON or YAML )
- AWS Associate level certification or greater
- Experience using the Agile methodology
- Proven ability to troubleshoot infrastructure and/or application connectivity issues across a complex global network
- Experience developing architectural designs, processes, and procedures.
- Experience working with corporate security on infrastructure or applications security compliance and remediation activities (ie: Risk Acceptance, Security Configuration Baseline)
- Strong communication, teamwork, analytical, and interpersonal skills
- Strong problem solving and customer service skills
- Strong ability to troubleshoot issues and make system changes as needed
Additional Details:
- This position has the option to be based out of either our Nashville, TN; Peoria, IL or Irving, TX offices
- Will work 3 days a week onsite
