Job description

Automotive Parts Manager opportunity available for a growing domestic dealership just outside of Charlotte, NC. The successful candidate will be a highly organized and process-driven Parts Manager who is focused, wants to grow, and is a great trainer and motivator for their staff. This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated domestic Parts Manager who wants a long-term home where they can show up every day and continue to build and develop the department they've built. Must be very strong at inventory management as there are some inventory issues to clean up, but the cleanup process will not negatively affect the new Parts Manager's compensation. It is imperative that the Parts Manager hired is a good person with a strong moral compass. This position is with a reputable family-owned dealer group with a track record of many long-term employees, many who have had long careers and retired with this organization.

The Parts Manager will not be micromanaged and will be supported in making changes to their department as needed to better their department. The dealer will also be building a new facility in 2025 so this is a great opportunity to get in, fine-tune the department, and get ready for a beautiful new store with more growth potential. The goal is that the person will continue to grow the Parts Department and significantly increase earnings. This is with a dealer that doesn't believe in cutting pay plans when performance increases, the better your department does = the better the store does and they believe that is a win win for everyone! It is important that the Parts Manager maintains a positive working relationship with the Service Manager and Service Department.

The role of a dealership Parts Manager is critical to the smooth operation of the dealership's service and repair functions and the satisfaction of customers who rely on the availability of parts for their vehicles. It is important that the Parts Manager hired is able to balance inventory management, customer service, and profitability while ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. This is a great long-term opportunity with low-turnover family-owned dealer group.

Responsibilities:

  • Inventory Management: Oversee the procurement and stocking of parts and accessories required for vehicle maintenance and repair. Maintain accurate inventory records, track stock levels, and order parts as needed to meet demand while avoiding overstock.
  • Supplier Relations: Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers and negotiate pricing, discounts, and terms. Evaluate the quality and reliability of parts suppliers to ensure the dealership receives high-quality products.
  • Parts Sales: Manage the sale of parts to both internal (mechanics and service technicians) and external customers. Provide pricing and availability information to customers, and assist with part selection and recommendations.
  • Customer Service: Ensure a high level of customer service, addressing inquiries, concerns, and issues related to parts and accessories. Handle customer complaints and returns in a professional and efficient manner.
  • Staff Supervision: Oversee the parts department staff, including parts counter people and parts drivers. Assign tasks, provide training, and evaluate employee performance.
  • Pricing and Profitability: Monitor pricing strategies to maximize profitability while remaining competitive in the market. Analyze sales data and trends to adjust pricing and product offerings as needed.
  • Inventory Control: Implement inventory control procedures, such as cycle counting and regular audits, to prevent theft and minimize shrinkage. Ensure that the parts department complies with manufacturer and dealership policies.
  • Parts Sourcing: Research and source hard-to-find or specialty parts that may not be readily available through regular suppliers.
  • Budget Management: Develop and manage the parts department budget, including tracking expenses, revenue, and profitability.
  • Reporting: Generate reports on parts department performance, including sales, inventory turnover, and other relevant metrics.
  • Provide reports to dealership management as required.

Compensation:

  • Compensation package will be in the $120,000 range, with true room for growth.
  • Full benefits package provided
