Automation Support Manager
Apex currently seeking an experienced Automation Support Manager to join our Automation Solutions team. The position is a unique role that will focus on supporting automated material handling projects that have been installed to improve our client’s warehousing and distribution performance. Specific focus on Conveyor and Automated Material Handling Equipment solutions design. This role could also entail management and training of junior support staff
Responsibilities
- Building out Support team and process for handling inbound requests as a team
- Standardizing processes and documents pertaining to support
- Creating and/or reviewing support contracts for customer review and approval
- Creating and executing contracts with selected vendors
- Handling inbound emails and calls for support
- Identifies & troubleshoots initial call to determine support needed
- Escalates to Implementation team and vendors when needed
- Setting up and managing yearly support contracts and renewals
- Reviewing original equipment manufacturer (OEM) suggested preventative maintenance (PM) tasks and schedules
- Creating master PM schedules for customer sites
- Managing vendor relationships for spare parts and/or service
- Managing internal and external Support partners
- Managing spare parts orders for customers
- Managing and tracking shipments of spare parts order
- Travel may be required to review systems we are supporting
Requirements:
- Knowledge of material handling systems including Conveyor, Sortation, AS/RS Crane, AMR, AGV, Pallet Shuttle
- Knowledge of Controls systems
- Knowledge of electrical/mechanical system functionality
- Proficient reading and interpreting CAD drawings
- Ability to work well in team settings
- Excellent organizational and documentation skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate details
- Ability to work independently and see tasks through to completion
- Ability to work well with technical and non-technical resources
- Ability to take initiative, make decisions, and show confidence in decisions made
- Must be able to see tasks through to completion without significant guidance
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, time management and problem solving skills
- Ability to travel up to 25%; this percentage could change depending on company needs
- Ability to perform essential functions of the job
Desired Qualifications:
- 3+ years’ experience of technical client support in Automated Material Handling environment
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or technology related field
- Distribution Center and/or Manufacturing Plant experience
- Systems Configuration, testing, and training experience
- Bilingual English/Spanish
