Summary
This position is located in Audiovisual Services Branch, Media Services Division, Office of General Services Management, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Operations, Bureau of Administration (A/OPR/GSM/MS/AS). As an Audiovisual Production Specialist, the incumbent provides all phases of audiovisual production support and Presidential travel support for the Department.

Duties
Provides technical expertise to plan, design, lay out, set up, organize and operate the equipment, signals and communications systems required to support the simultaneous interpretations, audio, broadcasts and videotaping operations.
Coordinates and manages stage lighting and auditorium sound systems for important events at the White House, DOS headquarters and off site locations that include news conferences held by the President and Secretary of State.
Ensures all electronic equipment is in reliable operating condition for these events by assessing preventive check points and taking corrective measures in cases where weak, borderline, defective or malfunctioning components are found.
Maintains master antenna television systems and closed circuit cable television systems for conferences and meetings, and ensures high quality audio recording of statements made by and interviews held with conference delegates.
Acts as Branch Electronics and/or Audio Officer at large-scale international conferences held in the U.S. and abroad in providing sound reinforcement and video projection support for the conferences.

Qualifications
Applicants must meet all the qualification requirements described below by the closing date of this announcement.
Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal service which provided the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position.
Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience providing technical expertise in the planning, designing, laying out, setting up, organizing, and operating of equipment, signals and communications systems required to support the simultaneous interpretations, audio, broadcasts and videotaping operations required by an agency or organization.
Experience assisting with the production of broadcasts and news briefings, linkages to the fiber optics network and cable television network, video conferencing and related communications operations.
There is no substitute of education for specialized experience for the GS-12 position.

Knowledge of simultaneous interpretation of Audio, Broadcasts and Video operations.
Skill in Digital Television Broadcast Facility Engineering.
Skill in Signal Protocols.
Ability to communicate effectively and orally.
Knowledge of best practice customer service techniques for servicing a diverse international customer base.
